**Why Strength Training is a Game-Changer for Middle-Aged Men** As we hit our 40s and beyond, maintaining muscle mass becomes crucial for overall health and longevity. Here’s why strength training should be a non-negotiable part of your routine: 💪 **Boosts Metabolism**: Muscle burns more calories than fat, even at rest. Regular strength training keeps your metabolism high, helping you stay lean. 🦴 **Protects Bones & Joints**: Lifting weights strengthens bones and joints, reducing the risk of injuries and conditions like osteoporosis. 🧠 **Improves Mental Health**: Strength training releases endorphins, reduces anxiety, and helps combat age-related mental decline. ⏳ **Slows Aging**: Resistance exercises promote better posture, balance, and mobility, helping you move like you're years younger. Invest in your strength today. It’s not just about lifting weights; it’s about lifting your quality of life!

Are you this fit from just skateboarding alone? Or have you always been fit due to genetics + diet?
@ChrisJonesStrengthJitsNCАй бұрын
Great question. When I was 35 I went to college for exercise science and got certified as a fitness trainer when I was 36. I’ve been working as a trainer since. So to answer your question, no skateboarding is not why I am fit. I actually quit skating for about 30 years. But I was able to get back into it at around 50 because I was fit enough due to my training program.

@pvgaming82433 ай бұрын
@@OverTheHillAthlete That's the thing I noticed with new skaters, as well as myself when doing other tricks. It almost looks like they're trying to get the board back on the ground as fast as possible after popping. It's all a mind game. The easiest way to get over obstacles is to just suck your knees up. If you pop right, the board wants to pop up. It's our scared little stiff legs that prevent it.

Nice start. I could clean that up for you in two minutes since you have the rotational sequence down if you'd be iopen to tips from a 78 year old with 4 years of daily practice. Bring your hands lower and closer to your body. What you're doing is a nice variation to open the chest and feels good but would not be considered a classic Dragon Roll and not conducive to transitions or developing skills like sneaks or hug. on the other hand it does't serve to be overly critical of beginner's form because the simple fact is that getting in reps leads to smoother flow. Every mistake is a lesson and the goal is to get better one day at a time.
@OverTheHillAthlete3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the tips

Excellent! I also find myself trying to convince folks that movement/training doesn't need to take all day, so many ways to keep ourselves fit and functional without spending 2 hours changing/driving to a gym/showering/driving back home. Seems most people don't realize that doing something like THIS daily is far more effective than doing something like that 3-4x per week, IMO, and can be gradually scaled up as progression for quite some time with either more reps, more weight, more sets, or less rest time in-between sets or reps. Thanks for this, keep up the great work!
