@ChessGMD well if u refuse to trade queens and move it somewhere, blacks queen is preventing your castling, and if u do trade, black gets time to develop and get ready for the endgame. I believe even with development advantage for white, the position is still holdable for black (unless you find some stockfish attacking lines which is unlikely in human chess)

You're welcome! I'm glad you found a new opening to try! The London System and Ruy López are solid choices, but improving your understanding of the middlegame will really help you climb the ranks. Focus on piece activity, controlling the center, and understanding tactics-it will make a big difference at 600 Elo. Keep practicing, and your rating will definitely improve. Firstly, great video with many ideas, i really enjoyed it. However on 5:23 Qb3 isn't the best, the only drawback is that it allows d5 which gives black a pretty solid position and allows for quick development and potentially some counterplay against our isolated pawn, a better alternative is Ba3 and a massive attack is ahead of us. Additionally against 8... Bxc3 a more aggressive and my personal favourite variation is the moller attack with 9. d5, but recapturing is still totally fine!
@ChessGMD
@ChessGMD 28 күн бұрын
Thank you for the thoughtful comment and the detailed analysis! I really appreciate your insight. You're absolutely right that Qb3 at 5:23 allows d5, giving Black a more comfortable position. Ba3 is indeed a stronger move, setting up a more dynamic attack. As for the Moller Attack after 8. Bxc3, 9. d5 is an exciting and aggressive option, and I can see why it’s a favorite-it definitely adds pressure on Black. I’ll keep these points in mind for future videos. Thanks again for sharing your expertise!

1:25 What if opponent plays a3 instead?
@ChessGMD
@ChessGMD Ай бұрын
If White plays a2, simply retreat the knight to c6. Then, if White plays the queen to a6, pinning the knight, you can respond by playing bishop to d7 to neutralize the pin. If White advances the pawn to d5, attacking the knight, you can move the knight to d4, creating a discovered attack on the queen while also threatening a fork on the c2 square, attacking both the King and Rook.
@Chorpy
@Chorpy Ай бұрын
@@ChessGMDIn this position, pinning the knight with queen doesn't seem right, White shall play d5 instead, and now your position is worse because you have to move your knight across the board while White develops their pieces
@ChessGMD
@ChessGMD Ай бұрын
You can verify this with Stockfish; White may have about a 1-point advantage in this situation. However, keep in mind that your opponent won't be a computer, and this position isn't as bad as it seems. There are still practical chances to fight back.
@Chorpy
@Chorpy Ай бұрын
@@ChessGMD That's true. However, by making your position worse, White will be the one dominating and not you. This opening seems to me more like a trap like an Alien gambit: if your opponent makes a mistake in this position (which is more than possible due to how uncommon this play is), you're going to be absolutely dominating, but on the other hand, if White is cautious enough to not fall for it, it's just a matter of a few moves before this aggressive strategy can be punished

What if the opponent took my Knight in the early game?
@ChessGMD
@ChessGMD Ай бұрын
This is known as the Ruy Lopez Exchange Variation. Best Continuation: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Bxc6 dxc6 5. O-O f6 (defending e5 and preparing Bg4 or Bd6) 6. d4 exd4 (challenging the center) 7. Nxd4 c5 (gaining tempo against the knight) This kind of setup ensures that Black remains active and prevents White from dominating the position. The Exchange Variation is a solid choice for White, but it does not guarantee an advantage if Black plays accurately. Focus on maintaining activity, leveraging your central pawns, and preparing for a favorable endgame.
