I love Murodo! I was so stoked the first time I got there. The weather was bad when we got to Tateyama so, not much of a memory from there. You should try Tsurugidake next time. I’m not sure if that’s something you like doing but 😅 yeah.

I took this opportunity to compare your videos with other KZbin videos that introduce the Kumano Kodo. Your videos are more relaxed and unique than the others. It would be a great series to compile all your travelogues.

Yay, hello fellow walker! I ended at the falls, then took a day in Kii Katsuura. It was 4 days on trail and 3 nights camping. Miss it already and hope to do some of the other routes next year 🤞

Beautiful place, thanks for sharing! As a side note, I felt that the Chinese music was a bit out of place and didn't quite suit the Japanese setting, in my opinion.
@tinwenwalks20 күн бұрын
The artists were using Japanese instruments and the music was inspired by places in Japan, like one titled “Yamanashi” and another titled “Port of Sakai”; the instruments can sound very similar I agree. I was actually hiking and camping with Chinese people, so that makes it even better though 😄

Awesome video. you might know why this is called Butterfly Peak, local people start cultivating , growing rice, veggies when they could confirm on the part of summit looks like a white butterfly with snow pattern Many mountains are named after like this, Hakuba, originally Shirouma, means digging horse, Gi-ga-take means grandpa is seeding, Koma-ga-take is named after horse, Shimada-musume means bride with wedding dress, etc Farmers looked mountains as seeing a calendar In early summer please enjoy these snow patterns from the villages.

Amazing shots! Can I ask how difficult you would rate this route? Thinking of trying it next fall, but not an especially experienced hiker
@tinwenwalks26 күн бұрын
Thank you! I would say intermediate because of the up and down over several miles. You need a little stamina and comfort scrambling at times. It’s not “technical” but there are areas where you have to really think about where your next step is or use your hands a bit, that kind of thing. I have a fear of heights and wasn’t triggered on this route, but I’ve heard some people do get triggered on the steep up/down from the side that goes to/from Tateyama mountain and Murodo. If you are generally active and get some more experience hiking longer miles between now and then, I think you’ll be just fine 🙌 (you could also just go up and down from tateyama and not do the loop, although the loop/full traverse is pretty epic)

Sorry for the bad weather, please come back again. I recommend you to take a path called Panorama Sindo, new trail between Tokusawa and Karasawa. It was a path for the climbers, but now many walkers take this route, I walked down via this route from Karasawa. Also walking Tokugo Touge Path would be interesting. This is the classic route to Kamikochi. As a climber, not by religious reason, Mr Walter Weston, English man, who took this route and published his adventure, he contributed to make Northern Japan Alps famous. Until then, it was not even known by ordinary Japanese, only local people went to Kamikochi, for hunting and purpose of his religious activity, practice Buddhism in the deep mountains.

Fantastic, shame I have never been there, but walked several times in Kurobe Gorge. Walking from Kurobe Dam to the narrow gauge train station is only for the well experienced trekkers, I never tried.😢
@tinwenwalks28 күн бұрын
I’ve seen photos of some of those trail routes around Kurobe Dam with the crazy “bridges” or ladders, I hope to try them one day after I get some more experience in Japan 😅

Another interesting walk you had. You might know well, this area is most snowy. Sukayu onsen keeps deepest snow record in Japan, 566 cm. Be 19ft In 1902 199 soldiers out of 210 were lost in military training. Also I remembered that several people of AF at Misawa base in Aomori, were killed by the volcanic gas when they were sleeping in the tent. There wild hot spa, free of charge, closer to their tent (I guess it is not designated camp site). Looking for seeing you in 2025. There are more to explore in Japan.
@tinwenwalks29 күн бұрын
Yes, I would love to see this area during the deep winter times! If not this year, maybe next year ❄️ the more I see in Japan, the more I realize there is to explore, you can spend a lifetime here with more to see ☺️
@r4jpyr24us329 күн бұрын
From your adventure at Northern Japan Alps, then I could reach to this movie. Yesterday I finished the reading a book written by Ron McLarty, translated in Japanese, titled Memory of Running. And very much interested in RI. In New England I only have been to Boston, wish I can walk Mt Washington, maybe too late, too hard for me. Thanks for your visiting Japan. There are many mountains here. I loved walking Southern Japan Alps, where our 2nd highest mountain exists.
@tinwenwalks29 күн бұрын
Thank you for this wonderful comment! I love New England, it is a special place. If you go to Mount Washington and cannot hike, you can also take a car or a train (Cog railway) up to the top. I know it’s not the same as walking with your own feet, but it is such a great mountain, and you can fulfill your wish that way ☺️
