No tap dealy and no loop recording. That's the only thing missing. Great sounding guitar. Yamaha have new model with loop and tap delay but it cost 1,700 dollars.. so this guitar is a great option but not buying it befor a tap delay & loop recording option.

Wanna huge improvement in tone? Projection? Resonance with that guitar? Get rid of that 2 lb chunk of sound robbing rubber they call a pick gaurd on the top! I replaced it with a small ultra thin and hard pick guard... More like one you will find on a Martin or Taylor.. it is a sound board for Gods sake... The Gibson gaurds are thinner and MUCH harder material, gummy near rubber they use is AWFUL FOR THE TONE OVERALL!!

I like your list but I have to point out that Simon & Patrick is not the same as Art & Lutherie, they're just re-branded Seagulls. You see, being an authorised Seagull dealer means that there can be no other Seagull dealers within a certain proximity to your location. Simon & Patrick was made because the demand for these guitars was so high and it's the brand that non-Seagull dealer music stores would sell. For example, the Seagull S6 Original and the Simon & Patrick Wooldland Cedar are EXACTLY the same guitar. Just go compare them on Godin's website and you'll see that the specs are identical. Long & McQuade sells both guitars for EXACTLY the same price. What does that tell you?

True, and that's true for 90% of guitars, even big name brands like Taylors lose a huge chunk of their value once used, I used to sell them for about 60% of their new price when I ran the local guitar shop. But, I'm a working musician, not an investor or collector, so my interest is 100% on playability, tone and feel, the value and resale aspects don't enter my mind since my only interest in any instrument, is to play it :)

BTW even Bourgeois made guitars for Washburn some years back. PS.. Any strap button on a guitar is, for me, a deterrent to purchase. The same goes for any electronics on an acoustic guitar.. Never.

@BrianMcCullarMusic19 күн бұрын
I bought Crosby pins, I forget the exact ones but, I had to sand the pins so they'd fit into the pin holes. I did this by inserting the end of a pin into a rotating drill, then holding sandpaper around the shaft of the pin and actuating the drill so it sanded down until each as the needed size :)
@dennisgabbeart181419 күн бұрын

Do you have an inspection mirror and could you check and let me know what the bridgeplate wood is on this? You can put and inspection mirror through the soundhole and using a flashlight, generally it will either be rosewood (darker wood) or maple (lighter wood). Haven't been able to get this information, although most higher end US made guitars use hard maple on the bridgplate.

I expected nothing and was still shocked how bad it was. It sounded stiff, the build quality was beyond lackluster (the bracing had the WORST glue job I have ever seen) and I did set it up. Straightened the neck, dressed the frets, made a brand new bone nut and saddle for it (after this video) and put real Grovers on it, and it still sounded absolutely terrible. The man who put it on consignment eventually agreed to sell it for the cost I charged him for the setup and new parts, which was just shy of $300.

I own an Epiphone Hummingbird Pro. It was made in China in 2021. For the money it's fine; the neck is very good indeed. My duo partner bought one about the same time, second-hand so probably a bit older. It has a different pickup so may have been made in Indonesia. Nice guitar. I ought to make proper comparison. I played eastman AC422ce and taylor 412cer side by side. Both solid sitka top and rosewood back and sides. The difference was huge. Taylor was a bit pricey than eastman. But, a big but..... , Eastman is ages away from taylor. The playability, the chimey sound from taylor 412ce cannot be compared to eastman. Eastman are good guitars but to my ears taylor are better. Any way its your own list so just an opinion of mine. You should try collings and burgeois. They make the best sounding guitars hands down, but bit pricey.

about those tuning machines: the three pylons on my texan 5/196 (1969) are 36.5mm apart. today's standard is 35mm. so it's virtually impossiblebto find era correct 2x3 sets. and purists... well first of all we want a good guitar. if authenticity 'demands' (never mind the insane prices) takes away playability and or sound quality, hmmm one would risk to end up with a lousy $2000 guitar (on the wall). so kudos for this dude here.

Sounds amazing! These all-solid wood Blueridge guitars built from 2003-2012 time frame were phenomenal guitars, we're talking near boutique quality and almost entirely hand built. The newer ones are still good too, but they seem to feel a bit more mass produced than they once did... Some history on the brand, in the late 1990s a man named Greg Rich who worked in the Gibson custom shop from many years was hired on by Blueridge to do the design work and revitalize the lineup, aside for the polyurethane finishes and inlays, he didn't cut any corners on construction.....
@BrianMcCullarMusicАй бұрын
They really are! And this one isn't even all solid, it has layered back and sides and still sounds incredible! Truly some of the best budget instruments on the market
@rmzzz76Ай бұрын
@@BrianMcCullarMusic I had a BR-40 with laminate back and sides and it sounded so good everyone thought it was all-solid, the truth is the most important part of tone on an acoustic is the top. How the wood has been conditioned before construction (to get all that moisture out), how thin it's cut and how well it's braced. Blueridge gives all their laminate b&s guitars the same quality top treatment and the sound is almost indistinguishable. It's also why their models with laminate b&s can cost $700 or more.

I have the 2020 Indonesian Samick made version of this guitar (2020 was the first year of production) and it has Epiphone deluxe branded tulip tuners (obviously made by Kluson from the quality, I have compared them with the similar Kluson tulip tuners, I have on other guitars) that are superb tuning heads that provide rock solid tuning stability. The move to Wilkinson lower quality tuners took place in 2021. First year of production is invariably the best with most guitar brands as that is when the brand is building up the reputation of the model. Also Worth noting that production of IBGs moved to the Epiphone facility in China in the fall of 2023. It was obviously always Epiphone's intention to move IBG and Masterbilt acoustic guitar production eventually to their facility in China once the tooling and skilled labour was in place as its significantly cheap for Epiphone to do this rather than job the work out to Samick who are btw one of their major competitors. Why give Samick the work when Epiphone can do it cheaper themselves? The lighter weight of the wood is probably because Epiphone in China are sourcing their wood from completely different sources compared with Samick in Indonesia 8500km away!
@rmzzz76Ай бұрын
I have a 2020 IBG J-45, built in Indonesia, it just keeps getting better with age, but it is a heavy guitar. Erything you're saying about "lighter guitar = better sounding guitar" has always been true in my experience. Gibson owns and operates the Epiphone factory in China, so they control everything from conditioning of the wood to final QA inspection... The Indonesian built IBG models were built by Samick for Epiphone. They do not get to control conditioning of the wood, they get a slice of time (usually a few weeks) where an assembly line is built adhoc for a certain model. They produce a certain amount, then the line is torn down and rebuilt later when they want another batch. Very nice guitars can and do come from Samick, but it's not the same as the company owning the factory... Epiphone always planned to move the IBG line to their factory in China, it just took time to get everything in place.
