CDA rotary atomisers were for 10 - 25 litres/ha, not 10 gallons/acre. The Bamlett Tive 2004 trailer pneumatic drill was not a Combine drill. It was seed only.

nostalgia at its best ---- i didnt realise just how many different machines featured that i had owned during those years for my contracting and farming work---- but without a doubt the highlight was the vicon lely cube 8 bale stacker ---- i dont remember anyone else in our area having one and this is the only film of it in action i have ever found ---- the machine worked very well but as with all complicated machines it was only as good as the operator using it ---- the best part and the most difficult part of using it was on the road ---- from the front of the JD2340 i had to the rear of the stacker was over 60 feet in length --- quite a challenge when going down narrow country lanes

Love watching these three, But for the first time I must say I am very disappointed! The moment Ruth went to crank the tractor she should have been stopped. NEVER go round and round crank starting, ALWAYS pull up or towards you. If it kicks back it will just pull out of your hand with any luck, any other way you will end up with broken bones or worse!

Loved this series. I played it during work in the background. So educational. I had no idea the rations went on for so long. I understand why. The recovery from the war was daunting and couldn’t just go Away as soon as war ended. Can’t wait to watch the other farm shows they made,

At Camp Dodge, Iowa, there was a museum there that had a loaf of Black Bread in the POW room. There was an official Nazi recipe on the percentage of ingredients used. Former POW s and with the wife's help baked the bread until they got the taste & texture just like they ate while in the camps. The museum was being up graded the second time I was there for training.

I am watching this series and remembering my dad. He was stationed at Horham, England during WWII. He was a radio operator on a B-17 bomber. My mom is now gone but we were able to take her to England and visit Horham during a reenactment. Watching this series shows me what life was like for the folks who lived then and there and it has left me humbled.

The English-well, I don't know how they did it. The Isles surrounded by Nazi submarines and hardly any food imports could get through yet the English went on. They raised almost everything they could to just survive. Many wonderful ladies in the WI and the WVS as well as such incredible ladies as Marguerite Patten helped the country get through with recipes and food suggestions. Many of the wartime recipes can be found online of course. It's astonishing what they came up with and got through with. My admiration for them is boundless. Of course I'm biased because I'm English and Dutch but that notwithstanding I am just in awe of them. This is a wonderful and so very special series.

Love these video's ! You really go in depth into daily life, we need American documentary makers do replicate this about our own history! One question why does it seem that the skinny young man doesn't seem to be doing his share of the heavy work? And why on earth are they going to plow that small plot with clothes that are not work appropriate...ties and coats?! Hats off to Peter and Ruth for the hardest workers! Ruth you really do it all! Great job!

These series should be shown in classrooms in schools. I'm guessing that there are virtually no students today who have the vaguest idea of what these people sacrificed, rationed, gave up or made do with in order to win the war. Too busy trying to keep up with the Kardashians and taking selfies.
