Jfyi, you can just push the red button where the safety lanyard clips on and it will shut off. You don't need to pull off the lanyard. You also don't need to shut off the fuel when you stop it. Only when you want to tilt it up, carry it or run the carbs dry for storage. Good vid. I run my 2.5 (modded to a 5hp though) on a BPS Pond Prowler 10

@@stefanflorin288 Installed a 5hp carburetor. I re-jetted the new one also and installed a 5.7 pitch prop.

@@stefanflorin288 It's not a must I just wanted a tad more fuel delivery. Procedure is you remove the main jet, drill it out a little (.0005" at a time) then reinstall, test run, check the spark plug electrode, then repeat if necessary.

i have a 2.5 2 stroke merc i bought new. its still like new cause i only used it a couple years. i just bought a new lowe 10' jon boat for it. cant wait to take it on the water.

Just pick up a little 10 footer with a 2.5 mercury like yours my question if you can help the tell tale pess at idle but not when running does your pee with running

Don’t pull on that lanyard like that… just press on the red stop button to shut it off… it will save you headaches later on.. Nice video

I had a 3hp 2stroke Tanaka on my 12ft and it did about 8 on flat water, I’m about to buy this new though and it looks about as fast and I’m sure more reliable

at the 7:55 mark I don't see the oil half way across the sight window, or maybe its just really clean oil, I bought a used 2.5 Tohatsu and they look to be the same, they are good engines

Also make sure you run the gas out of the carb with the red turn knob especialy if not running ethanol free gas.

Hey bro and just so you know I got the same exact motor but 3.5hp and instead of pulling the key out every time you want to shut the motor off you can just push it in with the key still in it. Just give it a firm push in. I would pull the whole key out until I heard from someone on here.
