The Old Senate Chamber in the Maryland State House at Annapolis has been preserved exactly as it was when the ratification took place.

The whole point of DC not being part of Virginia or Maryland is so that no STATE can claim the capital of the country. Also why would we make DC a state when we could simply put it into Virginia or Maryland. Not to mention that DC is 90% Democrat. It's pretty hard to get Republicans to put in a state they are guaranteed to lose every single election.
