Been going to the Guadalupes since my brother and I discovered the area in 1978. The drone footage really brings the place to life and reminds me of some very good memories. Now that I've seen this I am remotivated to visit again this October. Thanks very much for posting!! take care

Great video! Curious, do you have any other footage FR3008 between the little parking lot and the ridge? I'm headed out to Carlsbad in a few weeks with my Bronco Sport and I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm up against on that stretch. I don't think I'll take the stretch along the ridge over to the foot trail just based on your video, but the few photos I've seen online of the rest of the road don't look too concerning.
@WildernessCoy2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. You should be good to get all the way to where I camped in the video. There are a few rough patches between there but there should be some by-passes around the rough stuff. I haven’t been in there in a while. But we did have a bad flood this past summer. It is possible that the roads are a little rougher but they could have fixed them.
@willchaneyphoto2 жыл бұрын
@@WildernessCoy thanks I appreciate it. Ya I had heard there was flash flooding in that region last year. Hopefully the road is still decent, but worst case I can always turn around and walk in to the ridge. Can’t wait to see it, that view looks awesome from there.

Great video, Coy.! I stumbled across your channel a few months ago and immediately subscribed. You've got a real knack for cinematography and music choice. Definitely better than most! Plus Guadalupe Mountains are under-represented on KZbin, so keep up the good work! I don't know if you have time to answer, but I'm planning on passing through Guadalupe Mountains next month and I have one question: I'd like to enter the National Forest from the east by traveling up Dark Canyon. The trail looks really straightforward and takes me right up to Turkey Canyon where I could branch off and explore. However, it passes right through X-Bar Ranch on the eastern edge of the forest boundary (32.195185, -104.615324). Have you ever explored this part and do you know if it's cool to pass through X-Bar? Looks like I could swing up to NM 137 and take it to FR527 if I need to go around X-Bar but I'd really like to stay on the trail the whole way. Many thanks for any insight you can offer!
@WildernessCoy3 жыл бұрын
Thank you I really appreciate it. Yes I have been in there but xbar is private there is a gate with a lock . But if you stay to the west you can come out off cougar rd, it is really sweet back it there.
