I've seen that erector set model in person and have a picture of me holding it with Mark at my side in Mark's office at WDI in Glendale, CA. The model lived on a shelf in his office. Mark has retired -- worked with him for many years but I won't go into details as to what we worked on! So hush hush working with Disney!

This was that crazy year we got record snow in Boston area. No room on side banks for snow to spill off... So it was all pushed to the end where basketball hoop is and on other side of road at far end. I have a tractor when bucket loader and would push it back and make high piles... Insane year for snow.

Yup -- red is RPM, yellow is torque, and green is HP. Never really got a chance to try and work out if this dyno setup was accurate or not. There are other folks who have gotten off the shelf dynos working for chainsaws thus this project hasn't gotten much attention anymore.

I forgot to mention they are Titan tires -- I don't know the size details, but if you lookup the specs for a CK20 on kioti website it should have the sizes of the tires. They are pretty standard turf tires. I had to replace a front tire and had my local JD dealer do it since Kioti is far away!

How did your software end up working out. I would definitely be interested
@malk315

It runs on a beaglebone black... which seems to have stopped being developed. I started moving it over to a raspberry pi 3b+ setup with an SPI based encoder board to replace the built in QEP encoder the bone has... but it seams since Dyno Joe (Harkness?) has setup his w/ an off the shelf mechanical setup and software I likely don'e really need to do anything further! The hydraulic one here didn't seem to do as well as the motorcycle brake one -- but the motorcycle brake one had a lot of noise from vibration from the disc itself. Cheers.

@@malk315 did you use a solid rotor? They make semi floating and full floating discs that will self-center and reduce vibration. It also keeps the heat on the outside of the disc where the pads are clamping down, which I am not sure of the implications in this use case.
@malk315
@malk315 Жыл бұрын
@@7eis This is 6 years ago and haven't touched the project since! Maybe you are thinking of the brake rotor one? This one is a hydraulic pump with some kind of needle valve to restrict flow vs. the motorcycle brake disc one. Some day if I had infinite spare time I could consider dusting off the motorcycle brake one to mess with it some more... Other guys have gotten off the shelf setups working really well so I haven't really considered working on this anymore! Cheers.

Hey Mason - that one was built by Neil Murphy (nmurph) OE with NE cylinder, muff mod, and gasket delete. Compression 180 on OTC tester. One of the guys put oil in gas tank and fuel in oil tank. I flushed and changed fuel filter, lines are not old, new plug, cleaned it up and she is running great. Goes to work tomorrow. The one you did still rippin! Gotta train the boys on being more careful!

Do you have to have it or can you go gasket straight to cylinder
@malk315
@malk315 Жыл бұрын
@@drewwilson145 It's not involved with sealing the intake tract -- it just goes around the intake manifold so you can run without it. You will lose some of the air injection performance (air injection keeps the carb box clean by blowing air produced by flywheel fins into the carb box). Also it may have the carb box area run hotter on hot days since you lose some of the air injection flow although it will have a positive flow towards the cylinder so really not a big deal.

@@drewwilson145 One of the easiest to work on Husky saws is the 262. Very easy to install that sealing collar part There is a slot it drops into and it floats on the intake manifold. They probably tend to crack over time from basic vibration. Do you have any pictures or videos of your saw? Also lots of good advice on OPE Forum... lots of knowledge there.
