I have a 2021 MB Sprinter (2L Turbo RWD) and the EIS Module wiring bundle doesn’t look like what is in this video. Also my EIS module isn’t attached in a diagonal position..mine is straight up (vertical). So did they fix this in the 2021 model?

@@LarryCollins-g5j I am no expert and only posted this video for people who want to do the EIS module booty. I believe I heard that in the later models perhaps as early as the '21 models, Mercedes changed the wiring harness to avoid the condensation issue. So maybe that is what you have encountered?

@@murryadventures7191 Thanks for the response! Seems it was "fixed" in the 2021 (at least in mine - hehe). Thanks again

Love the video. My start button has needed to be held longer to start than normal. Weird part to me is it started the minute I swapped the key fob battery when it died. Has been 5-6 months now and still working. Took it to the dealer and they were useless. Couldn't give me an answer. Wondering if this is why.

I am certainly no expert in this Automotive stuff. I thought I had read somewhere that new key fob or perhaps since you got the new battery, your key fob has to reconnect/recommunicate with the vehicle computer. Maybe ask your service guy about that?

@@murryadventures7191 I did and they are as little help as asking a dog on the street. Mercedes service is not their strength and they spend more time trying to blame the customer than admitting fault. I ended up finding the TSB they put out on it and went back to them but still waiting to hear back

What model years of Sprinter vans have this issue?

My understanding is starting in 22 or late 22 Mercedes-Benz addressed this issue with either installing the EIS booty or doing the wiring harness differently.

My understanding from postings is that starting in 22 Mercedes added the booty and/or redid the wiring harness.

Thank you Sooo much for doing this, Mercedes should do a recall! Mine failed on site and had to call out engineer. Will be redoing it myself for the Control module behind the EIS. Thank You

The newest models of Sprinter should already have the module booty installed. You can get it, however, from your Mercedes-Benz Sprinter parts department. I got mine online. If you need me to post the link, I can do that. As soon as I find it.

My Sprinter is on order, so this question may not be relevant, but this seems like a lot of work just to put a raincoat on the EIS and route the wiring harness so it drips elsewhere. Why not seal the windshield dashboard junction with silicone caulk, so the condensation can’t get to the EIS and divert to a safe pathway to the weep holes?

I bought the boot and attempted this with this very good video. However our VS30 Sprinter wiring is "wrapped" really high, and would have to cut loom wrapping in order to get the module and wiring down low enough to get tucked up into the boot. Once I got in there I decided not to cut "wrapping" to expose more EIS wiring in order to pull it down. I may elect to monitor and/or utilize Maxxair fan and towel along windshield and A pillar as I monitor. Thanks for great video. Stealership wanted $268 to do boot install.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was very helpful and enabled me to tackle the job myself. I had asked Mercedes why this wasn't a recall, and couldn't they just take care of it before it was a problem and the dealer told me they just wouldn't work on it unless it failed. They wouldn't even do it if I paid them for the work, which was surprising. I couldn't risk having it fail out somewhere while travelling so I had no choice but to take care of it myself. This seems like a real design flaw, and I would hope they do a recall before anyone gets stuck out in the snow somewhere dangerous just because they get some condensation dripping down into the EIS module. I also referenced this doc: static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10183232-9999.pdf topic # LI54.21-N-069524 in case anyone is curious.

This video makes little sense in why wouldn’t this be a major recall by Mercedes in the first place and there seems to be no mention of why or under what conditions “other then condensation “ that this is “fix” would needed ….

Condensation & Water (especially when used as a RV) runs down off the windshield through the dash and then runs down the inside of the firewall... and some of it collects into the EIS Module... and then after a period of time, the plug and socket of the wiring harness corrodes and then eventually kills your RV electronics dead. The crappy MB bag keeps the water out of the plug and socket. I can't see myself buying a MB bag... I'll just use a freezer-grade Zip-Lok baggy.

Can you imagine the nightmare engineering task this must have been to figure out how to mold and make all the parts to fit together like they grew there? Amazing! Along those same lines, Mr. Blue Gloves must be some kind of genious to have figured out and executed that repair! Hats off to you, sir! 🎇
