Do y’all use queen excluders between your deeps and supers so you get only honey in the supers or do y’all have a different method?

You guys sure made a hard hot job look easy. I know you're all young and 'bullet proof' but be mindful off possible heat exhaustion. I worked for a small commercial beekeeper just a few times when he was short handed in the early 80's. I remember hauling over wintered bees back from Texas to NW Iowa on two large flatbed trucks. Going thru the weigh stations always made me laugh. The first truck would stop for about 10 seconds and get the green light immediately. The second truck wouldn't even have to slow down! Keep up the good work!

Its interesting how beehives are managed and used in different countries. In Romania beehives were on large trucks and moved around the fields. Very few if any pesticides used.

Hey Jake, I love what you are doing. You don’t find many commercial beekeepers that are willing to let smaller time beekeepers in to help. We definitely need that in the beekeeping community today. Thank you for reaching out a hand and giving back! Maybe one of these days I’ll have to come down to TX and see whatcha got going on. Keep it up!! 👏🏼

Hi Jake, this has been such a great video! I'm trying to build the first fully industrial honey processing farm in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and sort of learning as I go but it has been hard. Could you please provide me: 1. the production plant floor planning 2. how many hectares/space was used for the 100K lbs production? 3. prior to filtering, you didn't use knives for removal, im assuming because your machine is high technology so the filtering is so fast there's no need? Great videos!
@beefarmerjake

I have no idea what a hectare is lol... We don't filter any of our honey. The uncapper has hot knives built into it to remove wax cappings.

Love your channel, I'm just starting a small side operation in East Kentucky. Wanting to see how many hives I can run with no employees. Just trying to get to 100 for a start. Great to see what it's like in the big leagues. One Question, why are commercial beekeepers winter losses so damn high?!?! Not just you, but like you said 40% across the board. Is it just because you don't throw good time after weak colonies to try and fix them? Or is disease load higher because of number of colonies in a small area? Thanks for the videos, I'll be hanging around.
@beefarmerjake
@beefarmerjake 4 ай бұрын
Many beekeepers don’t stay on top of mite load in the fall. My winter losses were actually quite low 6-8%. I include cell take in my losses so that adds 10-12% loss every year.
