In the early 70's before she got famous she was the singing voice of Melody on the Josie & The Pussycats cartoon series. (Melody was the blonde drummer). She is listed in the credits under her stage name Cherie Moore (Get it? "My Cherie a'mour? 😂). It was a takeoff on her maiden name Cheryl Stopplemore. Anyway, my point was she did try but was unsuccessful in launching a singing career. She eventually did gain some popularity in Japan, and in January 1980 she sang the National Anthem at Superbowl 14

Janet is definitely a mentally tough artist. It's not easy being in that family growing up being comfortable she couldv'e stayed that way because she was well provided. But surprisingly she was very determined to become her own artist and she succeeded. Not only did she create her own lane, but also opened the doors for other artists as well.
