@@andrew_walker_music Fret Guru is about the 4th crowning file I bought and is my go to. Tape up the handle if you get one. It can be kind of tough on your fingers. Works great. It has stayed sharp for over 20 full re-crown jobs so far. Hosco makes good fret erasers also. I love them.

I have an M13. Picked it up about 10 years ago? I play in a party cover band as a utility guitarist. I love the ability to switch to completely different 'pedal boards' with midi to cover a wide range of sounds. The distortion and overdrive sounds are terrible so I use separate pedals for that but great for all the other effects.

@kheledkitt totally agree. The times I've used it live I've always ran drives into the front of it and used delay verb and mods.

@kevinmcmahon4727 They do look unreal, and a Nashville staple, but i have severe commitment issues and use one capo on a heap of different guitars. How easy is it for the Paige to come off one guitar and onto another? Fast at a gig?

It really does, especially the time based and modulation effects. It's missing a big, stand alone pad type verb but with the ability to stack verbs on the M13 you can cover pretty much any sonic territory. And I didn't even cover the looper or midi capabilities.

Good job on setting up the amp model to take the pedals well. Clean on the neck and hairy on the bridge when you dig in is just how I set things up too. That's when the amp (or amp model) is ready to compress when you hit it with more signal without jumping up too much in volume between clean and dirty.
@andrew_walker_music
@andrew_walker_music 10 күн бұрын
@RobCmusic thank you! In the context I currently use it, primarily country-rock genres, this method works great. If i was doing metal or jazz I'd absolutely rethink my approach, but for now, and what I need, it seems to be doing great!
@DrLeventBatu
@DrLeventBatu 11 күн бұрын
You can put lots of amps or same amps with different settings in presets. Instead of the middle ground approach, we can get our various guitars and make i.e. the same amp tuned spesifically for them and color code to keep track which is which so when we change guitars, we can compansate whatever changes between guitars. Also you can use A/B mode of the same amp instead of C mode if you want to use it as a solo switch. A with the normal setting and B with a little more volume/gain and delay(and still have 10 different settings paired with their solo counterparts). Very nice video btw. Liked n subbed. Peace.
@andrew_walker_music
@andrew_walker_music 10 күн бұрын
@DrLeventBatu thanks for the comment! And you are absolutely right. When i was recording recently I did have several instances of the same amp dialled in just a little differently to account for different guitars. The downside is that presets don't store input trim settings. I have seen some people run an eq pedal into the tonex with the level adjusted for a 2nd guitar. Have you seen the new editor update coming in feb? They are introducing macro adjustments, which looks similar to scenes on the helix. I haven't seen anything definitive yet, but i'm hoping they add a function where short press toggles between 2 states of an amp. Currently I have my tonex one set as you suggested, one amp is cleaner, has more compression and reverb specifically for softer songs, and another drier, hotter amp for heavier songs.

Personally speaking, after 50 years of guitar playing, I haven't found a better capo than a G7th. The one I have fits my acoustic and electric guitars, never throws the tuning, and the mechanism is the easiest on the market to use. I swear by them.

There is always struggles with the chromatic tuners for 440 standard tuning , looks to me you have intonation problems ? Capo's don't cure that they expose them I've used a capo for years and I admit some are garbage , but I also stoped using a electronic tuner for years also ( enter the tuning fork mine is the key of A ) with a little ear training that's all that's needed . In fact I learned how the pitch of a in tuned guitar should sound by ear be for I ever started learning to play one I use to do this for my fathers guitar way back in the 70s be for and after he would play the darn thing capos are good really good for octaves but expose everything else if there's neck or fret problems that's why so many guitarists chose jumbo frets for play ability . A good neck , a good fret job , and an ear training , is essential get yourself a tuning fork pitch don't lie electronic tuners do. There nasty for playing live and can be very frustrating . I've always had a trust worthy telecaster the best for staying in tune and beats all other guitars up against it . Can't beat the call of duty on those . Get a good capo with quick release and your flying .

I've gone to the C1 Shubb and love it. Had it a couple of years and won't go back to the usual spring-type variations. Only real drawback is that the Shubb is either on or off the neck. You can't clip it on the head stock while playing without it. When I bought a 12 string last year, I got the C3. Nope, not even close. The "octave" strings either buzzed or rang out from their open positions. So, I spent some more money and got the G7th Compensated Capo. Takes a few tries to find its sweet spot on the strings, but once you do it becomes second nature and every string is properly capo'd. I realize that we rarely need to capo a 12 string but, if you do, you will need a proper compensated capo.
@andrew_walker_music

@davekennedy8626 thanks man! I'm using the C3 on 6 string and haven't had an issue so far. The G7 capos look really good too! I personally don't have a 12 string and only got the c3 because of a wider than standard nut on an acoustic I have. Thanks for the comment!

I'm in the US and was steered by my local guitar shop to the exact same capo you're showing as your replacement... It was my first capo, and the little adjustment screw was the main thing pointed out as being important. I use the same one on my acoustic and all my electrics and have never had a problem. The shop owner told me he only sells the spring-clamp type to uke players because "that's all those are any good for." I think I paid 32 quid with tax. Great video... thanks for all the cussing it makes me feel at home!

@craighamley3669 thanks man! I really appreciate that! The cussing was accidental, but as an aussie our unofficial language is mate and swearing so, while I try not to swear, sometimes the occasional word is bound to pop out! And you're right about the spring clamp one. The cheaper one is now in a box never to be seen from again, and the aroma is the backup live capo. For the price, the shubb just works wonders

Hey Andrew, I can't play bass (& I'm crappy at guitar too 😂), so absolutely no criticism here. My son has a music degree in Preform Jazz, on the bass. He'd commend you for using your Index & Middle fingers (and not using a pick). He has a number of basses and what he does with his thumb varies. With his 5-string and 4-strings that have humbuckers, he anchors his thumb out of the way on the top edge of the pickup and single coil pickups, because they are smaller, he anchors on the body of the bass. By doing this, he keeps his thumb out of the way to enable his fingers to do the walking. Anyway, I hope that helps. Kind regards -Rod
