Thanks for sharing. Agree so sorry to hear about this. I have listened to a few clips on the homes that were demolished and have heard from the agency who oversaw the demolition. My biggest concern is that there seems to be no accountability. It feels as if all of the blame and responsibility is placed on the residents. How is that possible? I heard nothing about an investigation or next steps to ensure that this doesn't happen again. It sounded as though the story being floated is that these residents illegally built their homes or had homes built. How? Clearly there were people in position that was a part of this, so to not hold everyone accountable is a sign this can happen again. How can anyone protect themselves if folks in position can give clearance to build and then later their home is destroyed.

LASG must change laws regarding illegal building. Instead of demolishing the building 1. Impose heavy fines. 2. Charge them cost of demolishing building 3. Jail term minimum of 5 years (The cost of illegal building should be so high no one will try it.

The Govt should make all the owners of these properties pay for the Demolition and clean up costs barring which they are never to be issued a permit in the State for anything until the full costs is paid ....this is an unnecessary costs being incurred by the Govt as a result of wilful disregard

All of you here are missing the point. Why are things like these not happening in Europe, USA and other civilised places? The reason is because everyone involved in the scam would have been arrested and given long prison sentences. The person at the ministry that gave out the permit and the estate managers are the ones that a civilised government would have been hunting down now. The only way to stop them is long prison sentence, no amount of due diligence will help you. If you go to any of those ministries to verify anything, you are likely going to pay bribes and meet so many imposters who are not what they claim to be. Somebody said he made a video 5 years ago when the place was still being sold and sent to Channels TV and the state government, Channels TV aired but the government did nothing.

It was also fault of Lagos state Government , imagine someone rent the house or apartment, must someone check if the building is on legal or illegal land. Who does that? Please Lagos state government next time, stop them building on illegal land instead of demolishing them after.
