Very nice job on the bolt mod. I usually don't bother with drilling a space for the screw head from the other side but it really does make it all the more pretty a job.

Top loading decks from the 70’s are my favourite. They remind me of the woodgrain Atari 2600 consoles in terms of their shape with how they are flat at the front then curve up at the back. My main deck is a Thorn DCR1 which is a rebadged Nakamichi 500 that I found in Cash Converters for like $130 or something crazy and it was literally scratch free. Whomever had it before me took good care of it. I’m guessing a music lover that has most likely passed on since. Using my Nakamichi with good quality DJ headphones I got from JB Hi Fi for almost a weeks pay; it makes my tapes sound beyond amazing. Even with noise reduction turned off you can’t hear tape hiss unless it’s turned up to an insane volume you wouldn’t have it at normally.

The garbled screen thing is a DRAM chip in the video card. It's likely socketed so give them a wriggle. Looks like a poor IC to socket connection. Also clean the eISA edge connector.

random question but did your old monitor also had the vga cable cut off ? Wy not reuse the original cable from your old one ?
@TheBasementChannel25 күн бұрын
Because I re-connected it to the other monitor back when I picked it up.
@LetsPlayKeldeo25 күн бұрын
@TheBasementChannel ohhhh I had rewatched your other video and didnt noticed it used the vga cable internally I assumed the board was hooked up via a custom cable thingy instead, kinda like a jamma connector or something
@TheBasementChannel25 күн бұрын
@LetsPlayKeldeo ha no worries, yes the old broken monitor in the arcade machine was connected via jamma harness, but it was a bunch easier to use the vga output on the board.

But where did you get the partition number of the USB drive tho, 10 in this case? Where did you get that number? Since I didn't have that number, I typed the boot code without it and it worked, it did boot from the USB drive but... instead of the Apple logo, this symbol 🚫 appeared, and it didn't continue from there, so I couldn't install Mac OS X Tiger on my eMac G4. But thanks for the video anyway, I can say that at least I tried.

I made your assembly with the GBS8220. I am an electronics engineer, I have many nice input signals from the GBS8220 to the oscilloscope. But none of my 3 VGA monitors want to output a display other than horizontal lines, the GBS8220 menu display is ok. my monitors are 1280x1024. What are the frequencies and resolutions of your VGA monitors? What a disappointment, yet I can display monochrome by connecting the live signals to the monitors without GBS8220. Is the GBS8220 out of service or should an update be made? if not, the project seemed excellent for the Atari ST I have an ATARI 1040 STF with scart output (scart)

Sorry mate, if you’re an electronics engineer you’re already way more qualified than I am to answer this question. I just play with stuff and hopefully it works 🤷♂️

At time mark 10:46 you point to what you believe is a pot inside of the silver colored square object. This is actual a transformer and is labeled as T1 on the schematic. The adjustment is a ferrite slug which controls the frequency of the motor oscillator circuit. These slugs should not be cleaned potentiometer cleaner,

Cartridge positioning matters, too these days. If I full press my cartridges, they wont read. These plastics are brittle but went through all kinds of stress during their use. Dont be surprised some undetectable warping in the plastics compound into final results; that is your game not working. Try inserting your games where they are unlevel on the top of the gameboy. The games should protrude above. This also prevents adding unwanted pressure to pins, as noted in this video not all cartridges are made the same and pokemon games may train your cartridge slot against you/ other games. If I was wrong, this video wouldnt exist.

Instead of heating the display, leaving it in a box with desiccant for a long time may also improve the display.

I bought a pair of Teenage Engineering OD-11 speakers about 10 years ago and love them, so much that I bought a third with the intention of buying a fourth for two stereo pairs. I certainly have a soft spot for this design and have recently upgraded my cinema receiver which has spare channels for other zones. I may well have to buy a pair a Sonab OD-11s to make use of those channels and a bit of a project wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
