I've listened to this piece and performance hundreds of times. Like a wonderous story, you keep getting to the end only to rush back to the beginning.

I'm listening to this since 9 years every week. Madame Silverstein's interpretation inspires me. I wrote my first book thanks to her, whenever I felt blocked I gave 10 mins of break. Now I'm writing my second book and nothing has changed, oh let's put also love pain :)

Thank you for these three posts! I'm a massive fan of Miss Silverstein, especially of her Biber playing ... it's a dull, grey, cold day here in my hometown, but these performances have immediately brightened my life. 320 years after Biber's death, it's proof that art can conquer time; I'm sure that Biber is smiling up there in heaven. Cheers from Canada.

Brilliant performance using Baroque violin and tuned to 415 Hz. This video was very beautifully made and represented a very evocative and poetic music by Heinrich Biber during Baroque.

now I think I got the onomastics right and am very happy about them, quite a comfort in this distress and I thank you a lot. The passacaglia itself starts in D-Major, I'd guess, but later goes to A-Major and it is full-on baroque style with its idiosyncratic twirls and extensions the music lacks later on, as the classical period sets in with its homophony and linearicity lacking any nonlinearicity, but I like the effect the symmetries and order in this nonlinear being of the baroque and you can set up the analogy about it by using the turbulences in fluids lacking laminarity, since they may appear without any suggestive order but yet they function seen from the outside and stay stable, so some certain order they must have, and it is similar, when you look at the physiognomics of whatever complex opus of baroque you can find... ...they are very elaborated and without any coincidences. Thank you Mrs Silverstein and bravo ! You should check the notes at 6min10: the chord should be c - g - e flat. To play b flat - g - e flat doesn't make sense. The bass there is e flat, d, c and b flat. Manuscripts or later editions can have errors.

Liked this video years ago and wasn't able to find it! I heard someone else play this and remembered Elicia's was so much more powerful!! Searched for a while until I finally found this! Now i can show my kids what real music sounds like. Best performance of this song!

Very interesting piece, and very modern-sounding in spite of being written before Vivaldi or Bach were even born, or Corelli had composed anything yet. I had never heard of Biber ... and maybe I am going to get the Biber fever ...

Not only beautifully, sensitively and movingly played but also superbly filmed in black and white, which gives appropriate gravitas to Biber's work.
