When talking about Minsk, MK forgets that Crimea was the main cause of Western Sanctions on Russia and less about the support provided to Donbas ethnic Russians.

US citizens are enjoying these long-term benefits of US government policies: Economic inequality, inflation, stagnant real wages for the last fifty years, costly healthcare, an expensive education system, student loan debt totaling $1.7 trillion with an average balance of $38,000, poor public transportation systems, racial inequality, mass incarceration, the militarization of police, deteriorating infrastructure, housing affordability, homelessness, the opioid epidemic, and gun violence. The US military is the most powerful, richest, technologically advanced, experienced, and competent in the world and will fight and defend the US against any country that attempts to take away these benefits from the American people. The US military prioritizes the welfare of the US people and will ensure that they will enjoy these benefits forever. The Chinese population does not enjoy any of the above benefits. The IPSOS 2023 Global Happiness Level Report lists China at number one position with the happiest people in the world at 91%, with Saudi Arabia second at 86%. The US and its allies are prioritizing funding conflicts and spreading its version of democracy to other countries to cripple and slow down their growth. Anywhere in the world, if there is a border dispute, it is usually the result of a line drawn by an Englishman; if it is an internal dispute, it is usually the US fueling it. Difference in implementation of divide and conquer strategy. Japan and the Philippines are cornerstones of the strategy to keep Asia poor and divided. This policy is articulated in the top-secret U.S. Foreign Policy written 76 years ago. February 24, 1948, Declassified U.S. Foreign Policy: Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world’s wealth but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. ... that Japan and the Philippines will be found to be the corner- stones of such a Pacific security system and that if we can contrive to retain effective control over these areas there can be no serious threat to our security from the East within our time. Taiwan was added to the Pacific security system after Chiang's army retreated to the island of Taiwan in 1949. South Korea was added after the Korean War in 1953. The attempt with Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was abandoned in 1975. The 1989 attempt in China failed. The 2019-2020 attempt in Hong Kong also failed. The US makes the rules, and the US and their friends do not have to follow these rules. Since WWII, the United States has started 201 wars, overthrew 36 foreign leaders, killed or attempted to kill 50, dropped bombs in 30 countries, and interfered in 86 foreign elections. To make the world safe for democracy, the US has caused the deaths of tens of millions of people in its conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. The CIA was involved in covert operations that resulted in mass killings of communists in over 22 countries, 500,000 to 2,000,000 Indonesian civilians disappeared in 1965-1966. The 'Arsenal of Democracy' produces 40 percent of the world's weapons. It is a very profitable business model in which other countries buy these weapons to fight each other. The key is maximizing profits without shedding US blood by inducing conflicts between and within countries outside the USA. One client is eager to spend AUD 368 billion to buy a few high-quality used nuclear-powered submarines. This business model's critical components are NATO, QUAD, ANZUS, Five Eyes, AUKUS, and MCC (Mutual Cross-Service Agreement).

Liana Fox, Russia reacted to Georgia in 2018, and it staied there for a couple of weeks, didn't occupy it. So why are you using it as an example of Putin's future intentions. In fact the war with Georgia refutes everything you are saying and it seems you cannot grasp the points why is that, because "Russia"!
@cornellencar3 күн бұрын
Also, isn't it clear to everyone at this point that the only security guarantee that Ukraine needs is from Russia. If Russia guarantees Ukraine's security in exchange for neutrality, means Russia will not attack Ukraine as well as Russia will defend Ukraine if attacked by another party. Russia can do that. No one else can do that.

Georgia started the South Ossetia war, and it was Kiev who refused to fulfill their obligations under Minsk and then Minsk 2. Zelensky even tried to get the nationalist batallions to move back their weaponry, they called him a loser to his face. The video aired on Ukrainian TV and was covered by The Grayzone. The reason Ukraine cheated on Minsk and Minsk 2 was because they saw it as accepting a loss to the Russia-backed separatists and correctly concluded that it would prevent them from joining NATO in the long run.

Peace will come to Ukraine and Russia once Putin orders all Russian Military to leave all of Ukraine, that means the Donbas Region and all of Eastern Ukraine and Crimea. It is really that simple, it is up to Putin if Russia wants Peace. As Ukraine gets more advanced weapons that can reach deeper into Russia Putin will realize the Military strenght of Ukraine supported by EU and NATO and the USA.

I had a conversation with a Ukrainian nationalist once about Minsk. He said to me that fulfilling Minsk 2 obligations would be tantamount to surrender. Basically they lost the civil war twice and didn't want to accept the L and the conditions they viewed as humiliating. And this dude takes on faith that Russian objectives were the capture of the whole of Ukraine, the evidence doesn't point to that.
@MuKa-oz8oi5 күн бұрын
I totally disagree with Liana on the possibility that Russia should be pushed to near defeat before it can accept negotiation. Ukraine does not have that capability to prevail over Russia. Ukraine is short of willing manpower to continue with the war. Giving weapons without motivated manpower is a waste effort. Trust me that 61 billion will not change the battle field situation in favor of Ukraineans. Let us go for negotiation to stop the canage...read about the 1962 missile crisis between Russia and the USA.

Peace in Ukraine is nothing for NATO has been made clear several times. NATO opposed the Minsk agreement in 2015, it was revealed in interviews with Professor Stephen Cohen who followed all communication between the US and Russia before he passed away in 2020. NATO also opposed the peace draft from Istanbul in the spring of 2022 that the parties accepted. The Rand corporation has already written the manual for the conflict in 2019. This is evident in a report on Ukraine 2019 where Nordstream is also mentioned.

Why invite people who have no idea what they talking about? I point specifically to this Liana Fox "expert". There are multiple sources, like Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who in details describes negotiations in Istanbul. Thus, it is pointless to spread lies like this "lady" does. Her saying that Ukraine loses less territory now than it would lose back at Istanbul is a complete lie or pure incompetence. According to the draft of Istanbul peaceful treaty Ukraine would not lose any of its territory, Russia agreed to withdraw all of its forces from Ukraine in exchange for guarantees that Ukraine will never join NATO. If Ukraine agreed to those conditions it would still be intact and had all of its lands, save for Crimea of course.

Its about can you trust the west, This a talking shop not really addressing the issue. The key point The US and west from the unipolar days wanted to destroy Russia grab its vast resources (the reason for wall street also joined the bandwagon) than go after China and reclaim the west supremacy. The rest of the world knows that is what happening and you cannot fool them and the dragon is grown too big so there is no way it can succeed as USA is reached its peak and is on the way out with 32trillion dollar dept, and with countries moving away from the dollar its not possible to keep on printing the dollar.

Whose Peace? Ukrainians or.....? The last time we checked, Ukrainians are like Pawns in this Chess game between USA and Russia. They literally do not know what is happening, they are dying in large numbers on the battlefront, in a war which they have no real idea about (other than being told that Russia illegally invaded). They are being told to request for more military aid, and instructed to conscript and send innocent young and middle age men to their deaths on the front line, they have no idea and cannot question but obey. The last time we checked, Ukraine is not a state, but a ramp state, a tool which is being exploited by the west to achieve their Geopolitical interests against Russia. So whose peace are we talking about here?

This conflict with Russia has already been decided. The aid only serves to drag out the inevitable outcome. 1) It doesn't matter how much funding or access to weapons they can get, without the human resource, this is a vain exercise. And this idea that it buys time, for what exactly? It's not like all of a sudden Ukraine is going to magically have soldiers. They don't grow on trees. Not even those sent for training would be enough to offset the disparity to Russia. 2) The fact that Ukraine has become totally dependent on the western partners means, Russia achieved one of its key objectives which was to neutralize Ukraine's military capacity. 3) The aspect of the seeming slow territorial gains is also a part of the strategy now that they have substantially weakened the military capabilities they can afford to drag the conflict into a battle of attrition that minimizes loses for Russia while weakening Ukraine. Also this brings the war to a pace Russia is able to maintain for many more years to come which would outlast the western funding. 4) Remember for Russia, for as long as the conflict stands, they have the advantage not only in weapons but soldiers on top of that, their economy is growing because of the war so while this prolonged fued empties European coffers it extends the shelf life of the Russian economy. This novel idea of a Ukrainian fight back is a pipe dream, if they failed to with greater resources when the opponent was still not fully organized, it's unrealistic to expect them make gains. Soon this will fade like the many global conflicts we have.
@davidl.73174 күн бұрын
I respectively disagree with your analysis and bullet points. I would ask you to consider how long Russia can continue on a wartime economy while having their military equipment attrited while not having a strong ability to also have any export economy. I don't think it can last. I don't think Ukraine will sue for peace. They will fight longer than Russia can.
@Ogole-oye3 күн бұрын
@@davidl.7317 Well the reality is Russia resources have already outlasted the western predictions. And they will outlast Ukrainians resources...it's not like Ukraine has any of its own and they are already outnumbered and outgunned. And perhaps the most critical aspect is human resources. Even if they got weapons, they simply don't have the man power to fight. And the Russians seem prepared for a long haul in the war, they've changed tactics to a slow grind which manages resources while limiting loses.

Perhaps someone can explain to me, even if Ukraine caved into Rebel-Russian interpretation of Mink sequencing how that would have altered the purpose of the agreement, to reintergrate Donbas back into Ukraine and avoid war? And how in a Federal system could the Donbas minority be able to highjack Ukraine foreign policy and be Putin's Trojan Horse as so many claimed? Neither did the Minsk Agreement propose any such possibility.
