@BillsBuildandRaceАй бұрын
Not really. Expanding foam is generally the tool of beginners. It is extremely porous and impossible to get a smooth surface on for molding. I use it myself for particular body shaping jobs, but to say "It's ALL done" with foam is just not accurate.

Great memories of what was first class racing on an excellent track. Always admired Phi Barnes who, as a privateer with limited resources, always pulled above his weight on local tracks. Phil and John Leffler did their Morris Cooper S's proud. Also it was so good to see the Geoghegan name back last weekend when Pete's grandson Max won in his Toyota in support races at Bathurst.

Hi I love your videos!! What kind of clay do you use, thanks so much !
@BillsBuildandRace2 ай бұрын
I buy 4kg blocks of the cheapest modelling clay designed for making craft pottery and then fired. You will find it in your area by searching for "pottery supplies". It dries out (both on the job & on the shelf), but I rewhydrate it by wrapping it in saturated towelling and then sealing in a plastic bag. I have been using the same blocks of clay for ten years doing this!

Honestly - the weight savings of CF compared to fiberglass on a job this size is not worth the expense nor the trouble of vacuum bagging.

Use forklift/digger hydraulic steering. It's used all the time in Formual Off Road and handles those extreme loads without any issues.
@BillsBuildandRace2 ай бұрын
Yes. But any replacement rack's width has to exactly match the factory unit to avoid bump steer, and it would also have to be mounted in the exact same position as the factory unit for the same reason. So it's easier in this "use what you have" no budget build to retain the factory rack & pinion, which is hydraulically boosted as well.
@HMMag-f5u2 ай бұрын
It only has to "exactly match the factory unit" if you keep everything else exactly as factory. Apart from that I'm pretty sure a double acting hydrogen cylinder in the right length/stroke can be easily found. The Motorkhana cars also seem to have pretty stiff suspension so bump-steer might not be that much of an issue anyway. I think you could have avoided a bit of hassle by converting to hydraulic. But in the end it's your car and you must do what you feel is better.

Searched but nothing re Amaroo? Guessing if turned laps at Oran, also did a few round there, just no vision? Was my favourite track as a spectator, places like Oran could always see what was happening, but when they disappeared over The Crest at Amaroo, anticipation to see who made it to The Cutting first, then swapping paint in the tussle to Hairpin, along Lake Straight in-front of members area to Speedway. Very similar to Wanneroo.

Thank you Bill, my Uncle, Bob Stevens, had his "first race" at The Farm in a 48-215. This time of year with Bathurst upon us, I usually get sentimental, get the bug to search the web, find something new all the time. I'm wondering if you still have those race programs, perhaps showing his entries. Wikipedia doesn't have a page for Bob, nor it appears entries for his races. I've found covers only on "speedway and road race history" website, but no luck with contents. If you know somewhere where I might be able to find his entries, grid positions, place, etc, be much appreciated. Actually I'm wondering if that's him @7:40 in the Mustang (originally Bob Jane's, altho that prob is Jane). it looks like old photos I have, his # was 4, & even as a kid I remember he loved letting the back out in the turns (imagine the tires).
