My question is, as a first-time contractor for Commercial client, should I apply for the client under my entity name? Or it has to be a SAM registration under the clients name and credentials?

Bravo Ira! I have been screaming at my radio for a decade when I hear the deceptive commercials from TXU. I created a spreadsheet (not as in depth as yours) and it showed that some of TXU's could be up to 60% more costly than "non-gimmick" plans offered by others. I sent that information to the "Consumer advocacy" department of Fox news in Houston. I summed it up to saying that if merchant A charged double the price for an apple (than merchant B) then Merchant A is not really giving a free apple unless they giving you a free apple for EVERY apple you purchase. I did get an answer back from Fox news which basically said they would not want to present my data because TXU advertises on Fox (and most other media outlets) and they don't want to "bite the hand that feeds us". Just think of the $900 savings you described and multiply that by just 1 million subscribers. That would be nearly a billion dollars of savings for customers which could go into fueling the local economies and businesses and not lining the pockets of TXU. Presenting that information would be much more important to the general viewing audience than showing "restaurant reports" or businesses with "slime in the ice machine" I think the Texas PUC should allow consumers to pick 2 REPs. Both REP's would bill the customer and the customer can discontinue the service of the higher priced REP and get a total Refund after up to 3 months of bills. It is doubtful if anyone would see a savings with TXU.

Apologies, I just saw this! Need to get my notifications figured out. I agree that it really is criminal how deceptive these things are. The fact a big company like that can get away with it in broad daylight is shocking. The typical customer has no idea how to procure power and I bet you're right that there are billions of dollars being wasted in people's budgets. It's a shame.

My opinion is these utility companies don't want you to save money on your electric bill because they lose money . I just spent $3000 insulating my attic and saw a savings for maybe 4 months , then my rate changed or delivery charge goes up. If you get solar they will charge you a higher rate , How are they helping people save money? I have TXU also. Don't tell me my gas water heater is using more electricity

They aren't signaling any one account out specifically but you're right that the rates have gone up a lot the last few years. Energy efficiency does become even more important at higher rates...think of how much higher your bill would be if you still had the poorly insulated attic!

Not even close…I have a 1900 square foot house in FL and just got a quote for a Tesla roof at $175K. Ridiculous high overpriced install. I was very sad because I kept seeing videos like this one and getting excited that the price would be reasonable. Not so.

Unfortunately a lot of solar contractors tend to be really overpriced. Outside of the Tesla Solar Roof systems I've seen prices range from under $2/W to nearly $5/W for the same system here in Texas. It may just be you got a provider that wasn't very competitive. Priced fairly and sized right, solar makes sense in most areas these days.

@@HolisticUtilitySolutions Don’t get me wrong…I love the idea of solar and have resorted in the mean time to build the complete ecoflow pro system at nearly 40KWH of backup, but I also like what Tesla stands for and they are very comparable to Apple in the way they deliver and design their products. But this was the referral that I got through the Tesla website and when I priced actual solar panels and 3 power walls my system was closer to 60K which is what I was expecting. But FL is weird with insurance and solar so I have to wait until I replace my roof.

Great break down. TXU plans can be confusing because you don't know the actual cost of the plans without diving deep.

Thank you! There's a fair number of assumptions here, but I think we're reasonably close. It's easy to be negative and say "rich people just throwing money away", but the reality is that most of the people who can afford this aren't in the habit of wasting money! Done well, solar can make a ton of sense.

Excellent summery of that installation. I learned a little about the solar system and allot about how to understand the potential financial return aspect of a P/V system. I live well north of Texas and I know that changes things but I still learned a ton and have lots to think about. Thanks very much for your video.

Sure thing! Glad it was helpful. PV Watts will automatically adjust the solar output for your area once you put in your location.
