Well done Dan, an excellent summary of the years activities. What will the team discover in 2025? Wonderful things? 😊

Cheers Keith. I have no doubt and we’ll have lots of fun too.

Nice video but you could have fooled me had you not said it was a gun, having dived in the area you can dive one day and find nothing then another day something shows up. Just think if we were able to dredge the sands and filter out the sand and leave the well could be gold coins, diamonds etc., oh well that will have to wait for when the next ice age comes.

Thank you for this upload. Very interesting. Wish you good luck with your further investigations on this HMS wreck . There were many victims in the Great Storm of 1703 so i am sure there will be many more wrecks to ' discover' in due course .

Are you also moniting the Stirling Castle & the Mary?

I don’t think they are tampons, as they are not thick enough. They look more like the spares to bottom ends of cannister shot.

Can you determine the thickness of the hull from the size of the scupper and maybe where it would have located on the deck?
@pascoearchaeology16652 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, that’s the theory. If the guns are to go by it is likely to be the hull of the upper deck and above. The main site survives from gundeck and below on the port side bow to amidships.

Good choice using the thinner work glove, especially when you’re using your fingers as eyes. Much better feed back than thick neoprene. Looking forward to more about The Northumberland.

That is an amazing wreck, would i be right in thinking that like the mary rose, a large part of her starboard side is likely preserved under the sand?
@pascoearchaeology16653 жыл бұрын
Hi Mitch, thanks. The starboard side has gone but the port side from roughly amidships to the bow and from main gundeck down to keel is preserved under the sand.

@@pascoearchaeology1665 Would it be possible to use ground-penetrating radar underwater or some form of sonar to map the extant buried parts?
@pascoearchaeology16653 жыл бұрын
@@mitchhill1342 We will be excavating selected areas of the site, so soon we will have a better understanding of the buried parts. Each winter the sea scours away surface sediments, so it is naturally being excavated. It won't be there for ever, sadly.

Fascinating introduction to the story of the Northumberland and looking forward to learning more. Ships like this are just too precious to be disturbed by the removal of the Goodwin Sands for commercial use
