Your perspective is always deeply thoughtful- I’m grateful for all the material you offer. I can’t imagine not using reversed cards- perhaps Ken James was trying to appeal to novices?? I’ve watched some of his videos in the past and am familiar with Jungian thinking from my years as a psychologist. I didn’t connect with Ken James as much as I’d hoped- my sense was his videos are put out primarily as vehicles for drawing in paying students.

Beautiful way of looking at a storm, sometimes the foundation wasn’t as solid or well built to begin with. Starting over with better materials and newer concepts built from value. 💚💚💚

This was very helpful in answering my questions about shuffling and reversed cards. I also really appreciated the advice on how to protect and handle the cards. After watching this, I made a double sided cloth bag for my cards and put a brocade cloth in the bag as well to place the cards on to read.

This video was about trusting yourself, which is a big issue for me. How do you trust yourself?...Just do it. But in some earlier videos, you spoke about something like not assuming or not reading a card based on assumptions. Or confirmation bias. Any advice on how to trust that the idea is coming from the Higher You and not your mind splitting out an idea?

That was an incredibly helpful answer to my question, John! I feel like the "recipe" I'm following to learn tarot is good but I've just been given some additional ingredients...numerology, meanings based on the question and meanings based on pulling a card for clarification. This is all very familiar to those who have been studying/reading for a long time, but I really feel like I've been given advice to play with the recipe instead of doing it "by the book". Thanks so much!

Cheers John, love your insights into tarot, interesting explanations and the way you present various psychological processes, different traditions, and other little nuggets of interest that help explain the 'real magic' of tarot. Unique channel and a great bloke. On a side note, if you ever get stuck for ideas or fancied trying something other than tarot, I'd listen to you read just about anything. Hope you're doing ok mate.

Whew! This is a lot to unpack. There are so many layers to the tarot... it's kind of like an artichoke. There's the accepted meanings of the suits and cards, the expansion of those meanings based on the spread sequence, insights from the pictures, and now the associated elements and numerology. So many things I'd never think of on my own. Thank you for another informative and thought-provoking video.❤

This is so interesting, I’m a total newbie to tarot and there’s so much to learn but I have a question… I don’t quite understand how the numbers relate to the letters and thus how Fire becomes 16 but I’m wondering if you change the name of the element to another language it’ll probably become a different number and therefore a different card then the tower🙈 I’m from the Netherlands for instance and then we’d get a different outcome I’m guessing but this t not even be true. This is why I sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the aspects of tarot. Or is this no problem and then I’d just have to work with the card that comes up for me and see how that relates to “Vuur” which is Fire in Dutch? Thank you for all you do, I really really love your videos and your calm way of being🙏

Dear Ellen: I don' think I have an answer for you. I tried this number system with other European languages and you get different numbers - so vuur is 20. It may be that it makes some kind of sense with English, but not with other languages. Or maybe it's due to different mentalities or thought processes in other countries. If I say "please" in English, I mean do this for me, or obey me - that's what "please" tends to mean even if we don't say it. In French it's "s'il vous plait" - so it's "if it pleases you", so you are leaving it up to the person to cooperate or not. I think it's the same idea in Dutch. The number system is interesting because it gives you different ideas to connect with cards, so as you play with them, you learn more that you might be able to use in a reading. I'm not sure if this is helpful, but ask again if you wish. Oranje voor de eurocup.

I might just play with it in English and Dutch and experience them as different layers to the tarot. Different ways to connect with it. Thanks again John🙏

For me this shows a man who works hard, he cleans after others, while others rest he does the job. He is reliable, he has special skills and he is needed. But he does not enjoy it any more. He still does it, because it is hard to change.

It's really interesting that you should mention Jung as I've been reading one of his books, Man and His Symbols, and it's been illuminating, very much recommends it. I'm compelled to write something because around minute 20ish, you mention that not listening to your inner self is something that could get you stuck in the wheel of fortune, it's exactly what Jung preaches - listening to your inner self.

we are so fixated and hung up with the idea of THE BRAIN as the center of it all. that no real understanding of self will be possible for most people in this society. mabey with a dumpload of drugs it would kick them out of their destructive Perspektive. or not. until some smart sounding fool comes up and grabs the collective Attention with him in a newish direction.
