i respect all the Kings guards but how embarassing that he could not mount his horse back on his own, i get it that this a class where they will learn all this, but still. you would expect a Kings guard to be in a bit of a better shape yeah.

Is it normal for a horse rider to not be flexible and strong enough to mount the horse alone?

Now I understand why the horse spooked. This woman doesn't even know how to mount a horse properly. How is she in the mounted guard is beyond me..

Quick Run Down- Horse got a stick stuck in it's tail and it spooked it, causing it to buck its rider in training. (Everyone is unharmed, tack is right, horse is trained, just spooked!) While it was running and bucking, it got the stick out, but was still too panicked so one of the instructor tells the other guardsmen to cut off its run; This is to help force the horse to think about where to go and what it is doing (break off the run = break in panic mode). Once the horse realizes all is calm around it, there is nothing stuck to it that shouldn't be, it calms down. (The shake to shake off the scare and chewing and licking for calming; thinking behaviors) This is where the explanation of the stuck stick story happens so you get that clarity No one is at fault except a mean sticky stick. Rider is not overweight for the horse, horse is well trained and cared for. Even the riding instructor who came to get the horse and check on it, kissed its nose to show it some love after its scary experience. And it even looks like the horse is telling her about how scary that was, throwing its head about but remaining calm. Its just a matter of learning!

Just seen these horses don’t get enough exercise. I mean, running exercise. And they hate the tack.

Традиция - святое, но все- таки форму охранников можно несколько модернизировать. Люди не стоят на посту( хотя и на земле мобильность не помешает), а работают с сильным и быстрым животным. Всем здоровья и долгих лет службы.

She did brilliantly under the circumstances!! A lot of people would have walked home, getting chucked off is no joke and very scary. It was obvious the horse was reacting and once back in line settled. Great to see the calm teamwork!! Well done guys!!!!

These arent equestrians and you can see that... absolute piss take. Between this and the horses running chaos in london shocking horsemanship.

@Oakleaf700 I know that's why I don't work with them anymore I worked a hunt yard for a while. And those horses spooked at nothing unless it was it a child in a raincoat or anything hi ViZ 😂 loud bangs gun shots dogs fast traffic. Knobs with loud exhausts not a flinch but the bright colour on a person sent them bolting 🤷‍♂️

Can anyone tell me if those metal helmets are properly padded inside like a normal riding helmet or are they just bare metal ? Looks so dangerous being thrown off at speed wearing all that ceremonial metalware ! Well done lady troopers for getting back on, as a shortie myself I know what a hard thing that is to do, physically and mentally .

Why would their uniforms be designed as an impediment to actually performing guard duties or military activities? A redesigned and functional uniform should be on the table for the next king.

Horses can get spooked at the lil thing. WHen I rode Mounted Police, my horse reared up when he saw a dead bird on the ground. It was scary as hell when he stood on his hind legs and i never knew my legs could hold so damn tight. but talking (yelling) to get through to calm down, he was ok. But you have to take care and always be aware of whats up. when we got back to his stall, he was so upset with himself and I spent 2 hours like a father talking to a son that he is ok and I would never let anything hurt him. he fell asleep with his head on my shoulder. Next day he was fine and ready to go to work. Bravo to these grand men and women of the Kings Guard. Respect them and their horses. Pax+
