Bellissima rappresentazione del Rigoletto con cantanti in grazia e soprattutto un Duca di Mantova strepitoso sia per voce portentosa e anche per bellissima presenza fisica il che non guasta davvero visto che il Duca è descritto nel libretto di Del Piave come un giovane bello e possente. Meravigliosa opera che non smette di piacermi a distanza di tantissimi anni per mirabile assieme di eventi,arie indimenticabili e trama triste e drammatica che insegna che nulla si può contro il sopruso dei potenti.

The forerunner to Il Trovatore. The difference being that Ernani is early Verdi. And Il Trovatore considered a middle period composition. Which it is not. It is the best "early Verdi " with Ernani a close second. Of course I am not including Macbeth which is much advanced to " Verdi Gurdy" Excellent production here.

Dans l’opéra depuis 1963 pour moi existe que Pavarotti, même si naturellement on avait pas mal de ténor exceptionnel dans le monde!

Il ruolo di Manrico non si addice alla voce di Pavarotti, purtuttavia la sua parte l'ha ben eseguita; gli altri sono pessimi, davvero inascoltabili, nella fattispecie il Conte di Luna e Azucena.

Unica bella voce il nostro Pavarotti gli altri sono inascoltabile... La Martin non è assolutamente adatta a tale ruolo il baritono ha una voce anfibi il contralto tutta contratta.... Povero Verdi meno male che il nostro Luciano ha una voce splendente Argentina limpida.... Almeno lui❤️

Tampoco entiendo la razón de que algunos músicos y comparsas usen mascarillas. Por supuesto que el COVID afectó profundamente las vidas de millones de personas. Sin embargo, nadie se va a contagiar por asistir a una ópera o concierto y resulta distractivo y absurdo ver una producción con gente enmascarada a causa de una enfermedad que ni siquiera tienen.

No logro entender por qué, en una producción reciente, ponen a una soprano que debe pesar unas 200 toneladas. Es cierto que voz no le falta, pero algo deberían obligarla a hacer para bajar unos cuantos kilos. En cuanto al teatro, parece ser la Ópera de Roma, si bien tampoco eso queda claro. El resto es magnífico.

We’ve attended this amazing, spectacular performance at the Met six times. We never get tired of it. It’s a shame it’s being retired with a new production.

I have this specific perfomance on dvd, and to me this is one of if not the best, perfomances with english libretto. The highlight of this perfomance has to be Miss Blegen it's like the role was made for her

I appreciate the many veteran mezzos (and sopranos with good lower ranges) who have taken on the role of Mme. de Croissy, the Old Prioress. She appears in only two scenes yet dominates the first portion of the opera just as Mme. Lidoine, the New Prioress, drives the latter portion. Sylvie Brunet really nails the death scene at the one-hour mark. Big thanks to all the artists and theatrical/video technicians from this aging Carmelite-ophile in Washington DC USA.

ecco qua signore e signori, in tutto il suo affascinante SPLENDORE, la suprema Bellezza dell'Opera Lirica, altro che le pagliacciate indecenti e vergognose di certi sedicenti "scenografi" e "costumisti" dei miei........ (avete capito benissimo), che anziché lordare con la loro sconcertante mediocrità l'Altare dell'Opera Lirica farebbero molto meglio ad aggregarsi al carrozzone degli zingari di Istanbul.......
