Can you explain why, if Unreal Engine is so powerful, the animation industry does not widely use it for animation? If we wanted to use it for animation work, what problems might arise with Unreal Engine 5.4, and what are the drawbacks of using it for animated movie production? Are there specific limitations or challenges that studios face when considering Unreal Engine for this purpose?"

First thing is that although we can achieve almost photoreal results from UE5 still pathtracers are better in terms of quality. UE5 even when the result is great still has this "game" feel and is hard to get rid of. Second thing is that Autodesk software is dominant in this business and render times nowadays for 4k animation result is not that bad.

I also tried "EasyMapper". When I am using a cube shape, and adding a 'nanite displacement', at the edges the textures do not align. There is a physical gap between the two edges

I really like the project. A few weeks ago I switched from 3ds max back to blender (again). May I know what were your rendertimes? Did you use GPU for render and how did you optimised the scene for that. Those are "Anima All" characters right? How did you use them in Blender? Thanks a lot.
@megatecture
@megatecture 13 күн бұрын
Thanks, rendertimes were about one minute for one frame. Overall render took about 20 hours to complete. Yes I used GPU for render. I optimized it by working with as low res textures as possible. These characters are from reallusion, I got them from there together with animations for the models.

@@megatecture Thank you. I have a few more questions. If you can remember, how many samples did you use? Did you use Viewlayers? I just watch your Chateau Project Overview video wich I found very inspiring. This lead me to my last question, for those kind of projects would you rather do them in Blender or in UE? Edit: Regarding reallusion character was it a package that you bought? The last time I checked I was overwelmed by their offers and didn't know what to pick.
@megatecture
