I am a bit late to comment, but I wanted to thank you for the vid. I am considering bow season in BC this season. Trying to figure our what I am getting myself into and if I can even access any parts as I don't have a quad or even a truck anymore. I am not even sure what boots I will go for yet lol.

I have never seen a WMA so flooded than Big Cypress, Bear Island is the same, water to the knees, but it does not stop me from having a great time out there. Have you checked J.W. Corbett, Dupuis and Picayune? Thank you for sharing your experience in Turner River Unit.

Cool video man, i grew up hunting out there, used to kill alot of hogs off of Wagon Wheel road and we always seen deer in that area too. Ive got a quota this year for the addition lands, hoping to bag me a nice buck out there this year!!! Thanks for getting me pumped for the upcoming season!!

I love Big Cypress. Grew up hunting there since I was 10 in Bear Island. It needs to be burned! Hardly any deer left due to the pythons and Panthers...Did a walk in trip to Deep Lake last Sunday, whooped me at 65 but still love it! Saw tracks, that's about it. Thanks for the vid! I'm getting ready to post my trip to Deep Lake.

So me and a friend flew down from virginia to stay and fish out of everglades city for a long weekend when first tropical storm of the yr hit and our fishing trip for that day got cancelled and we fished the canals, well being ignorant of the area we asked a fishing guide if their were much for deer around there and he said absolutely. hour later while fishing near turner river a great BIG buck comes running across the road! i couldn’t believe it because it was early june and it was in velvet but pretty much fully grown where as our deer might be a third of way there. but it was big for even deer up our way. i’m guessing that might be a rarer sight then panther based on comments.
@jokerlover942 жыл бұрын
Idk about more rare then a panther though people make it seam that that way. You definitely caught a sight even most south Floridians don’t even get to experience any more though. That’s super cool you got to experience that!

I love the fact that this showcases what true hunting is like! Getting down and dirty in the woods! Any signs of bear or panther?

Yeah it can be real rough out there but it’s all worth it in the end. Also death definitely presents of both out there

I've hunted out there for years and finally bought my Ranger. Used to walk in off I75. Can't count the miles I've put in out there. Still haven't gotten a deer but 4 turkeys in the last 3 seasons. Little tip if you're walking in again. Off Turner River Road, walk in on the Concho Billie Trail. I always see deer about 1/4 mile in at the 1st pines on the South Side of the trail. We always run 6 to 7 miles in and always see them a few hundred yards from the road as we spook them on the way out.

Nice thanks for the tip, I’m out at bear island right now. Not too many deer have been take over here this quota but I’ve found so eye really nice buck tracks. I’ve seen one spike and 2 does so far. Todays probably going to be my last day out here for my quota but I’ll be back in general gun. Definitely going back out to turner river too but I heard they got 8 bucks out there for quota so far so idk how many will be running around over there

This video reassured me that I made the right choice when I stopped hunting BC 4 years ago, what a shame, such a beautiful place and so large. The video brought back a lot of good memories but poor land management, and mainly the predators (there is another factor I'm not going to say but if you know you know) have basically decimated the deer herd. Definitely a tough place to hunt but there's something about BC that I don't find in any other WMA, even if you don't harvest a buck it's still a beautiful piece of land.
@usmcmma2 жыл бұрын
I've seen a panther and heard a few more out there. Lots of tracks in Turner. My guess is they decimated the hogs 1st finishing them off in the early 90's and now the deer. I still have good luck with Turkey getting 4 in the last 3 seasons but only in one spot way in on Concho Billie. Skipping this deer season. Hunted Picayune but saw only does. Time for a lease in Georgia.
@ordonezo12 жыл бұрын
@@usmcmma there are some hogs left but not in TR, there are small pockets holding decent number of deer but turkey by far is the most abundant game in BC. Picayune is going downhill too, it's upland habitat but they're flooding the place up, pythons are moving in along with coyotes and there's plenty of panthers and nuisance bears. The number of deer has dramatically decreased in the past 2 years.

Yeah it’s definitely not easy out there, from what i understand there were 8 bucks taken out in Turner river this quota with a few being 8 pointers. I’m at bear island for my first time hunting it and have seen more deer here then I did at turner but they have less on the board over here. Only 3 bucks so far most taken the first day. I agree 100% on big cypresses having something special about it. I’m in the process of building my buggy can’t wait to be able to get some real distance next season
@jokerlover942 жыл бұрын
Sad to see but I agree with you 100% I’ve seen about 14 turkey so far mostly all hens

I haven’t had any bad luck like that yet but I’ve heard many horror stories. Full trucks and trailers taken. I’d take any valuables out of the truck and lock up your cooler. That’s what I do but locks are still no guarantee
