Hi, I have a 52 tooth Stone oval chainring 1x 10. I was told not to mount the chainring flush where the normal big ring would go. But to mount it on the backside of the Crankset arm where the smaller ring would go. I was told that it places the ring in a better position to prevent cross chaining. But I don't like the look of it. Is this theory true?

What is the official weight for the 58 cm frame?
@cyclecyclecycle2 жыл бұрын
I measured my 61cm, which came out heavier than advertised: Frame: 1355g (Advertised: 1200 ±50g) Fork: 555g (Advertised: 460g ±15g)
@JohnnyRabbitQC2 жыл бұрын
@@cyclecyclecycle Not bad! Even big brand names give false info on the weight of their products. My DTSwiss R500db wheelset on DT370 hubs was supposed to weight approximately 1860g and they weight in at 2060g 😂 Thanks a lot for the quick response!

Hi! Bit of a late question, but was cable routing through the steerer tube a posibility? I'm looking at the FS NS ACR stem and the FSA HBS/CR 1.5 headset, which'd allow me to pass the front hydraulic brake lane through a custom compression plug and down the steerer tube.
@cyclecyclecycle3 жыл бұрын
sorry, didn't route via steerer tube, just down tube..
@KnobleKnives3 жыл бұрын
@@cyclecyclecycle Ah, okay! So routing the front brake cable through the steerer isn't possible, then?
@cyclecyclecycle3 жыл бұрын
Edit: I misunderstood your question. Routing the front break cable via the fork is possible. I incorrectly assumed you’d ask about the head tube cable routing.

Yes, it worked well. I’d say this chainring will age faster than Shimano or Wolf Tooth though. BTW, I did end up moving away from oval and switched back to round.

You do not have to use the one from Carbonda as it is very basic, this is a standard tapered headset. You will be able to use FSA for example..

I wouldn’t call this a spelling mishap. This fork runs for top dollars so I expect someone from QC checking it out before it leaves the factory. It is very clear that this has not been done..

Do you know the fork's colour code?
@cyclecyclecycle3 жыл бұрын
This is UD black, meaning a clear coat on top of carbon. The black color will not be uniform, some sections will be reflecting and ‘shiny’ while other areas will appear dull. Some folks like this look and some don’t. Make sure you know what you purchase. The name “UD black” certainly is misleading

I also recently bought a fork from Whisky, some miscoloured spots on that one too. I really don't care about that, love the light weight and stiffness of the fork and it looks great on my titanium bike. I have no regrets buying it 👍
@fitzmanansala88993 жыл бұрын
did they say that it was normal? i just got mine
@cyclecyclecycle3 жыл бұрын
I would consider the miscoloring somewhat normal for a UD Carbon fork, but usually that is somewhat uniform across instead of the weird pattern my fork had. However, the main reason why I returned mine was the poor printing of the brand name. The "K" of "Whisky" was only partially printed. So clearly no-one from quality control looked at this fork. What the video also doesn't show is the uneven surface where the crown race belongs. I had no other choice but to return. I'd still love to have a Whisky fork and probably will start looking soon again. I am currently riding a no name brand carbon fork with similar specs and it is behaving really well on moderate gravel.
@cyclecyclecycle3 жыл бұрын
@@fitzmanansala8899 I tried to have it replaced with one that has a decent brand name printing on it, but there was no response from the online store where I purchased. I assume they were flooded with customer requests, like every bike has been since the beginning of the pandemic. So I just ended up paying the "restocking fee" and return shipment cost. Bummer, as I'd love to have a Whisky fork after all. Maybe one day..
