Been going here for about a year now. Gundam selection is great. Prices are spot on. Owner might need some warming up to, but he's a good guy. Unless you live within a 10 mile radius of Gundam Planet, you should be going here if you're in north Jersey.

I still use my testors paints regularly. They are easier for me to find than Tamiya or Mr. Hobby. That engine leaves a lot to be desired, almost seems like an after thought 🙄

The whole kit leaves a lot to be desired. Needs so much cleaning up and correcting ,it's like reengineering the whole kit. I have to admit I'm loving the challenge.

Thanks shawn. But i got to say this kit is a mess. Bad fitment and flash everywhere. Going to take a lot of work to make this one look good.

Excellent fab work. You’re a very skilled builder. Just out of curiosity what paint are you going to use for chrome parts? I’m assuming you’re going to strip the factory chrome. I never know what to do for the chrome pieces. I’ve used alclad and that loses it’s shine pretty much as soon as you touch it and the chrome pens don’t dry for a century. 😅

I’ve been using the alclad paints for chrome and had good luck with them. The best paint they have that I’ve found is the polished aluminum. I think it works better than their chrome. I just recently picked up the revell krome and will be using it for the first time in this build. I’ve heard really good things about it.

That engine looks like a big block Chevy, same as the one in 36 Chevy modified stocker race car

I’ve never built the 36. I would be interested to know if they are the same. Mpc could be using the same tooling for some of the parts. The chassis I think is the same in all the super stocker kits.

@onixfieroandscalemodelworks the Monte Carlo has the same style headers it's probably same chassis, I have the 36 Chevy and 34 ford same chassis it looks like a modified 55 Chevy chassis the engine are the same with different timing cover and the instructions has same part numbers but it shows the oil pan and intake manifold going on backwards and oil filter in different location which it comical lol, not sure on the Vega and pinto but probably the same stuff

I like the plastic putty, but I find that it dries too soft. It does have its applications though. Been forever since I’ve seen squadron 😆 Looking forward to your build!

@@ScaleSpeedworks i agee with you. It does dry soft. But that does make it easy to sand and shape. I find it easy to use as you can just use water to work it. I've had that squadron putty for years.

@juliewalsh6477 i don't remeber the exact colors I used. I might have mentioned the colors during the build series on these cars. The dark brown is flocking powder. Im pretty sure they were all paints from tamiya.
