Stumbled into Two Guys in 1968 and saw this Album in the rack. The cover was a bit racey, with a green cover of a nude girl stretched across an upright piano.Thought I'd give it a spin. From that day this cut has been my absolute favorite. This is, was, and will be the best of all groups that were part of the British Invasion. Was lucky enough to see them twice. Fast forward to 1985, I was given ten minutes to collect a few albums from my collection since the 50's, from a bitter divorce. Was amazed to find years later that this was one I selected.

A friend of mine played a Whiter Shade of Pale,on the junk box because she knew I was a huge fan of Proco Harum. Truth is they had ten songs I liked better, this was one of them!

Remember buying this album when I was 15 in '68. Slightly new direction for Mayall, almost a concept album, but it's still my favourite. Many thanks John for your brilliant life in music RIP

My nephew has been getting into procol harum so i sent him this... My mom had a salty dog album... Which I thought was great... Put this song is just something so different that you can't even explain, so you have to send it to him.... This is just so good and breathtakingly beautiful

Wait a year and send him Broken Barricades, my favorite! Later Robin Trower with James Dewar. Excellent. Karl

Many years later this piece would be covered by the super progressive group Transatlantic, and also greatly improved in my opinion, giving it all the consistency that the original PH version lacks. The ending in the modern version is even more epic and grandiose, and the guitar solo by Swede Roine Stolt ( Kaipa, The Flower Kings ) is absolutely anthological.

As great a singer as Gary Brooker was, no one could match Matthew Fisher’s rendition of In The Autumn Of My Madness. It is a beautiful, moving work of art.

The live at Edmonton version they did of this is light years better, especially the grand finale. After 45 years, it still gives me goosebumps.

For those of us who were there in 1968 for the initial ride, nothing could replace the original outing. The chemistry of Brooker, Fisher, Trower is something for the ages.

I have felt strongly about this band, this suite, Gary Booker, Mr. Trower....a brilliant guitarist. His solo albums were great and I truly feel that he was better than Hendrix. He was burned out way before he died. Trower, however, had the rare ability not to COPY but continue the thread. Jes sayin.. Thanks
