John, after 3 years, can i ask of you still use this machine and whether you still think its a good purchase? Im after a dedicated bench planer for my small shed, and realistically its between this one and the rutlands one if youre in the uk. I had the rutlands one and it was terrible, for the first time ever i actually had to send it back. Thanks john

Just saw this for the first time, John. I'm just back from A&E.. Ten stitches after an exploding bowl took a slice out of my arm… buffing with the lathe going far too fast. Lesson sorely learnt.

My experience with this machine wasn't great, it broke frequently and while i have nothing but good to say about their customer support (very fast shipment of replacement parts or entire machine with no shipping cost) i would rather have a working machine. The fence setting mechanism is very well thought out, one of the best i have seen. Don't grab the infeed table or its handle, its prone to getting damaged. I got rid of the blade guard on the first day, its annoying as hell, has its upsides but i now have a bigger unit with american-style blade guard and its a night and day difference. When they replaced the whole unit i just sold it on the next day. Save up more money and buy a serious machine.
