lol it happens! If you want to unflood it the quick way you can turn the choke off/turn to run position, and hold the throttle full and pull the rope. That will unflood the engine. But you can also take the spark plug out and full throttle pull it as well and it’ll do it way more better because all the excess fuel can flow right out of the spark plug hole.

I’m going to sound really stupid but anyway..my father unexpectedly passed away last year & he had one of these. I’m trying to keep the lawn in check for my mother but know nothing about this machine. I found a small bottle of RedMax 2-stroke engine oil, do I add that to a gallon of gas to use in this? Thanks

No problem! I gotcha ya. I’m extremely sorry for your loss but yes. This and many other 2-stroke trimmers run on a 50:1 gas/oil mix. Aka. Mix a small bottle of oil (2.6 fluid ounces) with 1 single gallon of gas. That’s your perfect 50:1

Yep, that will be soon when we take our trailer with 2 of our lawn mowers. Currently it’s setup to do a lawn this Friday and we take only 2 push mowers.

Yep! I never cared for the shift lever design either. I always preferred the Hydrostatic transmission with the forward and reverse pedals one the one side of the mower.

That probably because the tractor was at idle power, but I may have gotten up from the seat for just a second and maybe the safety switch kicked in and tried to turn off the mower. I know for sure this thing works perfectly fine I may have just have done something dumb and wrong

Honestly we all know it’s just more wear and tear on the machine, but I don’t blame you to much. Because when it’s only a lousy 16.5 inch cutting swath I really don’t blame you at all. Echos have 4-layer cable shafts and they will have more area of cutting swath at 17 inches like on the 225 and 2620.

Yeah some of them most definitely are. Again I know a lot of times it’s a care issue but old Sears Craftsman’s in my opinion will always be good because they were just built better back then.

I saw it man it was awesome!! I swear nowadays I think the 600-700 are the best thing stihl makes other than the saws. I truly don’t prefer any of their trimmers much anymore. The Stihl FS75-80-85 trimmers were definitely the best. Of course when they were around 20+ years ago. But I guess it’s like anything anymore. They don’t make them like they used to.

Yep. I personally think Echo and Shindaiwa are still pretty good nowadays and are both better than stihl. But like anything, they surely aren’t what they used to be.

@@christopherchang115 Stihl not worth it… 🙃Maruyama uses the non adjustable walbro carburetors… M-twist is Maruyama’s version of the speed feed head. Shindaiwa no longer promotes “first to start last to quit”.

You have a 1982 . the code number on your engine is 8211160. The first two numbers is the year of the engine. I have a old one too its a 1977 with the shift on the go six speed and it runs like new.

My guess is still the carburetor. It’s hard to get every last bit of gas out of the carburetor, like anything it’s never perfect. Did you ever use ethanol free gasoline?

Good stuff. We once tried the 2 cycle version they came out with. Powerful and light, like a Lawn Boy, but after 3 days of commercial work it became too hard to start. We cut steep slopes, and that Snapper tried hard, but failed.

Ran this machine once beside a 48" working out of a van. About 1987 if I recall. I had to be able to lock up that van every night, because where I lived I parallel parked as near to my place as I could get. Great times with great machines. Thanks for the memories.

No smoke at all? Did you spray it through the intake? I used a decent amount on a trimmer over 20+ years old. Me personally I’m not surprised it smoked this much.

I'm not a big fan of Husqvarna, I only have one Husqvarna and it's a backpack blower (350bt). Causes me tons of problems and I feel like it won't last long. So I'm saving up for a Stihl backpack blower (br600).

I bought one to run a pole saw (Ryobi expand it). Research say it will fit and it seems to. My only drawback is power. When I watch videos where I can see and hear the power head running it sounds weak. So I’m not sure if I want to move forward with this.

Yes sir! No problem! Yeah at this point brand loyalty means nothing to me haha. I’ll eventually buy a RedMax trimmer to. I’ve wanted one badly recently lol. The first trimmer you’ll see next will definitely be an ok Shindaiwa of some sort.
