Is that a 1/4 x 4 inch wire tensioner?

Busy thinking i must make all of this with threaded rods and bolts. Or if i can get thin steel rods for the section where nut gets banged in
@frikkiesmit327

Love your idea. Only problem is the thing used the crap @#$%! tension device seems to be made from zinc metal with steel filings inside. Cause mine i secured in vice to remove the eye with thread part and only turned to a point by hand so i used vice to grip and then pliers to turn the eye. Not even 1 full turn i hear a sound. 1st i see ok its bended , its steel so i will bend it straight again but no upon closer inspection the bloody thing broke!!! I will use something that i know is steel inside and outside. The tension device is defently not just steel

Love this idea more than some of the other you tubers as its probably even less modifications needed and so on. And i already bhought the tensioner to make a clamp tool. Thanks.

This looks like a great idea! I have a shop made tool made from a mending plate & an eye bolt but this design looks like it would be much easier to use. I already have all the parts laying around so I'll be making one straight away. I'm thinking an eye bolt will work fine for the twisting handle with the bonus of being able to stick a screwdriver through it on days the arthritis is bad, lol. Thanks for the brilliant idea!

use the eye bolt of the wire tensioner to tighten the wire, you won't need an extra bolt and wing nut.

Curious about the pins in the nut. I wouldn’t think an epoxy or press fit would be strong enough. Did you weld it? NEVER MIND, I just realized the pin goes all the way through the nut and the threaded rod. For some unknown reason I thought the nut needed to rotate on the threaded rod. (Wrong!)

Just curious, what is the diameter or gauge of the wire being used? I’m assuming it’s stainless steel?

This is the best copy of a ClampTite hands down. It functions exactly the same and is nearly identical in appearance. I made one too! I'm not sure of the size you used, but I used a 3/8" turnbuckle. I made two changes; 1) I added an acorn nut on the end for looks and comfort, and 2) for the encapsulated slider nut I used a square nut instead of a hex nut. It's a little wider and therefore helps with the encapsulation. Also it gives you a flat side to drill through for pinning.
