I recently had a microkorg XL (same as XL+). I bought R3 to compare them and debug my XL -> R3 converter program. In the end, I sold XL and kept R3 for myself, since R3 has richer functionality and can easily reproduce all presets from XL (except those using waves acoustic piano and a couple of others). By the way, the structure of the R3 file (saving a preset from the editor) is absolutely the same as that of Korg Radias. It is enough to replace the file header and R3 will play the first two timbres from the radias preset. But for the XL, the korg developed a different structure.

I wonder what you write. I also had XL+ but I definitely prefer R3. Now I'm wondering whether to buy King Korg Neo....?....

@@MrRafalSC KORG KingKORG NEO is definitely more modern and visually more attractive. To study the functionality in absentia, it was possible to download and install the official editor. BUT there is no editor on the Korg website! I quickly studied the manual - compared to R3, one more OSC has been added, many OSC models have been added, and the vocoder has been simplified. Now the main advantage of R3 is the price. KORG KingKORG NEO is not so much better as it is more expensive.

I don't have it, but these are generally available sounds. Just remember they are difficult to MIDI sync. Only live recording...

He's done iconic scores but not a lot of people know who he is- fell in love with him after Requiem for a Dream, seriously phenomenal score that everyone ripped off... how the man hasn't won an Oscar for best OST is beyond me.
