Hi vishwas, great video. One doubt. I have a jio prepaid sim and I am going to Thailand next week. Is it ok to just enable the international roaming service and not recharge any jio international roaming pack? I just want to receive sms and OTP from jio. I will also buy a Thailand local sim there with unlimited data there as it is cheaper. Is this ok?

Yes as you said just enable IR service. And make sure you have active Indian (domestic) plan.

What is the required minimum credit limit for receiving otp and sms i just activated the international roaming and i have only 13 rupees in my credit limit. They have mentioned to increase the credit to limit by adding money to enjoy basic pay go services. So can you tell me the minimum credit limit to use pay go service..!

For receiving otps and smss you don’t need any credit limit. For incoming/outgoing calls and data usage you need credits (top up balance).

I am going on a 7 day trip to japan. I want to recharge with Jio but it has voice service for 14 days or more only. Do you any suggestions for this ? I also have wifi access for most days except one or two days. Do you think standard pay go rates would be cheap enough ?

You can go with 999Rs 7days data only plan with some top up balance to make normal voice calls in case of emergency. Or use skype/viber for making normal calls.

Sure, for general long time use , 2799 annual pack would be suitable for your needs I think. It has voice and data included.

@ no! No data included in the 1100 plan. Whatever data you use, the charge will be deducted from 1100 pack balance. If you need daily data go for other ir packs.

Depends on your use, if you just want to get OTPs, Indian value pack is fine. Additionally top up balance will allow to make/receive calls in emergency.

Some IR packs come with wifi calling and some do not. Wifi calling allows you to make normal phone calls with wifi even though you don’t have cellular coverage.

You can get OTPs. As per my knowledge BSNL provide special sim for IR. So visit your local BSNL office to get it. Then minimal IR plan will be enough to get OTPs I think.

If you want to use data and make calls during your visit, then 3999 plan would be my recommendation. Otherwise just indian plan with some top up balance would be sufficient to receive otps and make/receive urgent calls too.

I have not heard any of issues with Airtel and Jio both. In terms of IR rates, Jio is much cheaper than Airtel. So you may continue it as it is.

I am not sure about BSNL’s offering. But like I mentioned in the video, Jio would be recommended by me with their minimal monthly or annual Indian plans.

I would recommend a recharge of 1899 for 336 days or 189 for 28 days. These are cheaper options. You can recharge from africa with myjio app.

You can’t use regular pack abroad to make or receive calls also for the data. It just helps in keeping your sim active abroad.

Hi there , I have an Airtel prepaid sim and I'm travelling to Malaysia for 7 days so as per the Airtel's website "Prepaid customers need to maintain sufficient balance along with activating IR service to use International Roaming while abroad. The balance can be maintained either by buying a separate IR pack or a talk time recharge to keep their prepaid sim active abroad." , so according to this i need to maintain balance (i think it would be top up balace?) and also have an ir pack to receive calls sms , so now I'm concerned should i recharge my number with ir pack ( i only need to receive otps for debit nd credit cards) can you please answer this

Just activate IR service and have some top up balance. IR pack is not required in your case.

Just FYI, Receiving calls abroad on airtel is much costly. Receiving otp is free. Still if you are gonna use airtel then minimum basic indian pack and some top up will do.

You don’t need to have Jio IR pack. Basic Indian pack will do with additional top up balance. You will be charged based on std pay go rates.

Sir I am going to Germany in November for my studies and will be there for 2 years. I watched your full video but still asking, sorry in advance for that. So I have Airtel SIM Card, as you said I will turn on International Roaming and recharge with basic plan every month to keep my SIM active. My query is, should I buy a SIM Card from Germany itself once I go there? Because other than places which have free wifi, if incase I need to call my family in India or any emergency so for that I would need a SIM card right? So is it better to buy a NEW SIM CARD from GERMANY or should I recharge the International plan of Airtel? Which one is more efficient? Sorry for such a long question. Hoping for an early response :)

Yes it is a good idea to buy a local sim in Germany for emergency cases. If you still want to get sms and otps then keep active your Airtel sim with basic recharge.

I am not sure about local plans offered in Turkey and Georgia but Jio is generally cheaper option. Jio works well internationally so no worries.
