She used him for money. She was broke, a single mother with two kids from two different men. She slept with him when he was a married man and tore his marriage apart.

The Canadian band Ocean had a hit with this song in 1971. Unfortunately Chuck Slater, their drummer, committed suicide in the 80s.

I mean, this kind of instrumental is so fun. It's not like the Shadows or the Ventures. It has a completely different feel to it.

Every country's history is filled with stories of pivotal battles which decided that country's future - Thermopylae, Agincourt, Bannockburn, Clontarf, Normandy Beaches. Perhaps in our memories they are changed or glorified but it is their essence that prevails - a few against the mighty and rightly or wrongly their countries will never be the same and the participants will never be forgotten and never should be.

Ooof. He's miming here. I love the man but this was not live. Not one bit. I've listened to the studio recording so many times...hundreds of times. I know every beat and inflection there is to this song and this is the studio recording. Also...he is nowhere near that mic. Nowhere near close enough to sound that clear and that pitch perfect.

My grandpa was a huge Johnny Cash fan, which was how I got my Love for Johnny as well. When he passed and we went to spread his ashes in the Ohio river bordering Ohio and WV, we listened to this song on the way, after we spread his ashes moments later a train began to blow. One of the most surreal moments ever. Rest in peace grandpa and rip Johnny!

Good Song but Hank Williams Jr. did it better when he was only 14 years old ! And Waylon Jenning's version is better than Cash's version !

The man who wrote this, Gene MacLellan, suffered from depression for which he was hospitalized. He died by his own hand at the age of 56. But he left us this gift (and others).
