5:45 Prescot is in Merseyside which is the north of England (close to Liverpool which is the home of The Beatles) which has always been seen as very working class and gritty compared to the south, which has always been seen as more middle class and more pompous, which is why the film takes the turns that it does.

I would mostly agree with you that Damon owns up to what he does, with one exception. He never actually owns up to what he did to Caroline in season 1. For that reason, I could not place him on the same tier as her. Though I would agree that he's better than Stefan as a character.

Megan was never off and I don't mean in a sinister way. Anything that can be turn on or off by voice has to be listening all the time to hear the 'on' command. Only a hard-wired on/off switch could fully turn her off.

Imo the show would've been so good if they had Viki live and go on a rampage and end up killing Matt then like flipping her switch bc of it and when they get her to turn it back on she realizes she needs to try and better herself and become a decent vampire if she's going to survive. At the end she could've kinda been like a Katherine character but not AS extreme as Katherine. She just had so much potential for great character development possibly even better than Caroline if given the chance.
