PPeople I have my own unique situation right now. Someone willingly gave me their card and all their details and encouraged me to use it and because I did I gave them stuff, felt it was okay for them to hold on to some of my stuff, and did them small favors. Now they are saying it is unauthorized and every doctor I saw with the card is going to get furious with me. How can I help them win the chargebacks or encourage them to do so instead of pursuing me for the money which I dont have?

Bunch of fools. Dont fall for it, people, its a trojan horse. Banks want it necause they want processing fees, businesses want it for meta data to manipulate, governments want it for control and power. Doesnt serve the general population at all.

Excellent explanation to all consumers and business owners! As a consumer I just experienced a 3 D Secure from a business owner online who NEVER informed I would need 3 D Secure before trying to make a purchased. As result, I am planning on shopping some where else.

This does absolutely nothing for the customer. It only protects the merchant from fraudulent payments. It does not prevent a fraudulent merchant from taking your money. Customers have no idea if a merchant is legit unless the customer has previously used a merchant site and experienced whether the merchant payment is actually 3D secured or not. Unsecured merchants can take your money without any VISA/Mastercard or bank intervention. It almost seems like VISA/Mastercard or any payment service is purposefully allowing for customers to be scammed by allowing for unsecured merchant payments.

you mentioned that pre-auth validity is 3 days. So when we stay at hotel for a week, the pre-auth is done on Day 1, how do they manage 3 day validity here? they must be doing pre-auth for the full time of stay, so they repeat pre-auth every 3 days?
