Not sure, I’m playing on iPhone too. You should unlock pet first, then in character screen you can assign different pets to different characters freely and no limitations

I beat this node using purrfect dark using fiber upper el gato and cat slide then I threw the head behind her and kept intercept until she died from being bullied in the corner
