I LOVE Prunella Scales. A consummate actress and nice person to be proud of. Dementia scales back to the bone of your character. I think she was talented, a nice human being I would like to have know. There, can't say I fairer than that

Really enjoyed your video and loved Grandma's participation for the demonstrations. I was telling my sister about this video and we both agreed that many of the things sounded wonderful. Our problem is that fact that even in her younger years, our mom just straight up refuses to try to learn new things and when we try to show her even the simplest thing, she gets pissy with us and basically just doesn't pay attention on purpose. Just like your summary of the video says "Everyone's journey is different". I'm going to check out some more of your videos.

LOL, until recently I hadn't realized that Mario updated his favorite way to tackle ED and it's a relief! Although what he previously suggested was pretty good, it was a real pain to follow... I just go'ogled the latest by Mario Volpstein, it's so much simpler and potent now!

I lost my own mother six weeks ago and she had Alzheimer’s. She was diagnosed in 2017. I was incredibly lucky with her, because right up until the end she seemed happy and contented. She never complained, she wasn’t aggressive, she wasn’t abusive and more importantly, she knew who we were. She had a naughty sense of humour and I loved watching her smile and chuckle. In the last few months, her speech became less and less and she lost weight because she was eating so little, but, she was still there. She was still my wonderful mum. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. I miss her terribly. Prunella was a wonderful actor, and despite a long career playing serious roles, I will always think of her as Sybil Fawlty. A brilliantly written character, but bought to life by Pru. John was so lucky to have her in the show. My thoughts are with both her and her family as she continues to battle this horrible illness.

Sounds like your dear mum had a form of dementia called FTD..fronto temporal dementia as opposed to alzeimers...she sounds rather marvellous

@@aflutteroffeminineconfusio1986 The diagnosis we were given was just Alzheimer's, so I'm not sure. Maybe it was FTD because she never really showed any of the typical symptons you associate with Alzheimer's.

@luciferbox5577 My dad, at age 87, has just gone Into care with FTD...alzeimers is unmistakable and requires a different level of care at some point..my dad has had dementia for 10 yrs and still knows who we are,can still look after himself to a degree ..his memory is getting much worse we've noticed ..but he doesn't wander or forget where he is etc...your mum and my dad sound similar..it can be a difficult illness to get an exact diagnosis, for years it was thought he had vascular dementia! Who knows,he probably does as well!

This ad is hilarious, as it's really badly done, manages to mispronunce AI and goes into a weird fake vocal fry on one sentence. This ad makes you look incompetent, like no-one even bothered to check it before you posted it.

Alexa echo show has enabled my 95 year old mother to stay in an independent living apartment

@@GGCareApp I got her the Alexa echo show 15. She mainly uses it for me to “pop in” and double check that she’s taken her medicine 4 times a day. She also uses it to call me. When I first got it for her we were able to find her grandson on youtube singing opera, but she has yet to do it by herself. One time she actually fell while I was dropping in on her. Thankfully I was able to get help to her immediately

Hi David, this is amazing!! Your video gave me great ideas on how to improve the quality of life of my mom with dementia. I have a question about your app. Is it also available in other languages?? For example Spanish? And the app can be used for more than one carer and family member? Thank you so much for all your effort and for sharing your experience and great solutions. All the best 🌟

Hi David - thanks for a insightful and well produced video. I'm implementing many of your suggestions and greatly appreciate you sharing your experiences. My mother has begun wandering, and I'm looking for a solution that will alert me when the front door is opened and triggers a camera so that I can see if it's her going out unaccompanied. Did you have any luck in pairing your door sensor and camera please? Many thanks, Andy

My late wife and I were introduced to the Wests by a fellow actor and friend of my wife's, when we lived on our narrow boat in Birmingham and worked for a narrow boat hire fleet. What a lovely interesting and devoted couple they are, and as we had similar interests in the canals a friendship was born, which saw us have a holiday on the Kennett and Avon Canal on a hired narrow boat after we had sold our boat and we met up with the West's who kept their narrow boat on the canal. Great news that Sam is collating a book of memories relating to his parents and his other siblings also narrow boat and canal fan I seem to recall.

Loved this video and ALL the ways that you showed how you incorporated the amazing Alexa products to help your grandmother live an easier and safer life. She is very fortunate to have you care for her. Loved the GG Care skill. It's a step beyond the regular reminder skill that Alexa offers and I can imagine it being used in so many different scenarios. The Drop In Skill that you mentioned is one of my favorites for family caregivers - I think it's so very important to have "eyes on" a senior especially if they have a chronic condition such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease. The sleep pad is also another great device that you mentioned in this video. Again, another monitoring tool. Great job!!!
