I'm here as one of those maturals who would have come for you. However, unexpected health circumstances mean becoming a straight nstural is one of the only options for me going forward. It's easy to judge, and yet no one s hould have to justify something like this. There are more important things in life like good health! You look amazing! Wishing you good physical health and good hair health.

Ok, I totally agree that straight hair looks sleeker. I’m an African American, and I am am HR Manager, and I too love our natural coils/curls, but…. sometimes some of “Us” don’t properly maintain our natural curls, like I’ve literally seen ladies come to work with dry, brittle, matted hair, or individual plats/braids sticking up, or the same braided style in for like 3 months but crusty from product build-up etc…..

So thick and beautiful! I'm all for natural options, sis. I just straightened mine today because it's winter where I live (SA) and I can't have a wet scalp in these streets.

Do you loose less hair when your hair is straight? Like compared to the detangling natural hair on a regular basis or is shedding about the same?

Hiyaa, I can never seem to get my hair flat straight like yours, my hair seems to be flow everywhere and stick up. I wash with clarifying then moisture shampoo. I deep condition. Then i use a very small amount of the redken anti-break leave-in, colour wow dream coat (for humidity) and heat protectant, before blow out. Then chi silk when straightening. I even bought a new straightener, and the double sided boar brush 🥲 I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any tips would to appreciated!

Does your hair shed a lot when straight? Mine does, why could that be😢? And don’t you oil your hair while straight? And how do you deal with dry scalp, my scalp tends to be extra dry when my hair is straight. I am natural, I have 4c.
@smokeyfan
@smokeyfan 4 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure each person's hair sheds the same amount whether straight or curly/coily. You probably don't notice it as much in its natural state because the shed hair gets trapped in the spirals and bends of the curls/coils and aren't removed until a thorough detangling session. As for dry scalp, there are specialized shampoos and conditiners for that. If you are saying your scalp only gets dry when your hair is straightened then maybe a product you or your stylist uses in the process is drying it. Hope that helps 😄.
@Neesha242
@Neesha242 4 ай бұрын
Could be it’s not moisturize enough or lacking protein or both. If it’s shedding from scalp with the white bulb at end then you are probably lacking moisture. Try a oil on scalp or pomade. And put it all over hair. Try not to use too much

Omg meeeee too! Mini twists + silk press is a hair retention methodology i stand by. Except i mini twist 3-4 weeks between every two silk presses…and i try to get my hair professionally trimmed after my twists. Lastly, i haven’t mastered a blow dry and flat iron (which is crazy bc i used to be able to) so i roller set and press my roots instead. I do the same as you when i workout, however, if my roots are wet I’ll keep my sweat wrap on, and my buns and sit under a drier for 10-30 min to make sure my hair is completely dry. I realized i can no longer do kanekalon extension styles for the most part, my hair is thick and full, but braids cause wayyyy to much fall out and im at the age where one day it might not fill itself in. This year i want to try to add human hair to the ends of my natural hair mini twists to see if i can still add extreme length when desired.
@MissChris.
@MissChris. 4 ай бұрын
@@mrod87Hey, have you tried using spring twist hair to add to your mini twist for added length? Its matches my type 4 texture and is easy to maintain.
@mrod87
@mrod87 4 ай бұрын
@@MissChris. yes ma’am! I just took them out last week! And i really like it…i just want to try human hair bc my natural hair in twists is below my shoulders on 90% of my head, however my edges are shorter bc of wearing too many tight ponytails with got2b gel 😩🥴. I’ve also noticed i lose less hair with my own hair vs kanekalon hair in that area, so this year i want to add human hair only where i need the added protection, a bit at the end to add some length) rather than how i install kanekalon at the root with the crochet method.

I'm in a humid place and sweat when I sleep. Would I just reblow dry and flat iron my hair when it gets puffy at the ends or curly at the roots? Or will that get me toward heat damaged?
