580super M is a bullet proof machine. From the looks I bet this machine is very low hour and did a lot of sitting hence all the leaks.

It has a few quirks but overall I am super happy with it. Lots of power. Very few things it can't lift with it. It has 7700 hrs. Rear main leak and pump leak but other than that really solid

Yep idling around 750. Cold start idle is 1250 from factory so any idle under say 900 is ok.

Does the retaining ring for the stubby driver side output shaft go on the shaft or in the carrier? The one on my differential was missing and the shaft just fell out.

I had the same problem, traced it to one of the 4 relay pins on the fuel relay not making TIGHT contact into a worn out receiving pin. I took a used relay to a bench grinder and reduce some thickness then cut off approximately 1-2 mm that leg. Placed that new thinner piece down into the receiving pin to use as a "filler" to make a 100% tight fit, reassembled the unit and pushed in the fuel relay and could feel a little extra effort was needed to make a snug fitting contact. Another option is to take the smallest SPADE connector (already thin enough ) and grind down the width to fit into the receiving pin, this is the better option.....I did this 5 years ago, came across this video, thought I'd share my solution to the community. 222-23? Is a BIG cam? I dont think so. Bigger than factory yes. Big in the performance world NO. The Tomahawk 2.0 is bigger with tighter LSA and they use it on 5.7's too. The FRP Titan 2 is a lot bigger. Oh well another weak cammed scat.

Fuel pump relay socket had a loose connection for a pin, I noticed the arc spot on one of the relay prongs. Gave it a squeeze and put the relay back in and no more issue for me. 97 chevy k2500 5.7.

@@WTFMIKE thanks for replying. I took my stub axle out and there was no retaining clip on it and I thought that it got stuck inside there. It must just stay in there then. I had a problem where I replaced the seal and bearing and put it back together and the stub axle never went all the way back in was all floppy. I guess I never hit it in far enough for that retaining ring inside to clip into the groove.

They have little flapper door in the intake...I can not remember what they call them in this car. It shift power. I played with the setting and that was the best I could get it. If I turned it of it lost around 20hp down low.

Sometimes the sensor itself is bad on the driver side in which case this will not help. It only works to bypass the passenger side sensor.

when you deleted the internal tank lines.... did you do anything to the driver side module where the internal tank line plugs into the top part ? I believe it is where the fuel pump feeds a little bit of fuel to the passenger tank to run the siphon .

I used the Lingenfelter block offs for the regulators. That was the only mod in the tank for the early fuel system. IN the end I ripped it all out and did a completely customer fuel system. The factory system is so stupid on these cars.

Suppose it's sensor A that is causing the issue. Can you do this all in reverse? Basically, ignore sensor A and only use sensor B?? Thanks in advance

This only works if passenger side sensor is bad and driver side still works. In the reverse you are hosed. The PCM uses the driver side as the level with the passenger side as an indicator of what volume is in there, but you can combine the 2 table for the driver side and the PCM is none the wiser. It does not work the other way round.

You would not happen to live near Tampa, FL AND maybe want to do something like this to my C6 (fixing a fuel smell issue not upgrading the fuel pump) ?? Your video did give me hope that this can be done on a manual without dropping the transmission. Shops here are quoting upwards of 10 hours to mess with the drivers side tank AND insisting they HAVE to drop the tranny

I found a local performance shop that has done a number of these and even stocks the parts. 8.5 hrs @ $110 sounds like a pretty good price for those of us that can't do it themselves.

So anyone have a theory why the bearings in these diffs are failing like that? I have been wrenching for decades and have never seen this except when was run dry. I am now looking for ideas what may be going on in the front of my Tahoe. Came across this type of failure in a few videos now. Makes no sense … unless the bearings used were really REALLY poor quality. Hoping that is not the problem with mine.

I personally think it is the shock from putting the vehicle in park/drive. There is tons of slope between all the drive axles and the trans so it shocks the front diff every time you shift. The rear gear are much beefyer and it doesn't seem to hurt them
