It's my pleasure!!! And... good question, because that'd be news to me if that was the case! The credits say all the music in The Lords Of Tantrazz was done by Kane Roberts and Arthur Funaro. Any chance you'd remember where else you may have heard this song? I want to guess maybe there was inspiration at play here if it wasn't a cover (something I'm iffy on purely due to the credits in-game not indicating this being a cover), or maybe it's the other way around where this would be the original and appeared elsewhere afterwards? I wouldn't be shocked if there was some inspiration due to another song in this game (which I've uploaded under the title of "The Monkey's Hit The Fan") taking from Alice Cooper's Roses On White Lace; Kane cowrote that, so it makes sense for that riff to have been used like it was. There's also many instances in this game's soundtrack where Kane reused lyrics from other songs, one song may have almost been released on an album (I Don't Care on his unreleased Touched album, which was worked on throughout the early 2000s; in Tantrazz, I believe it's the title card music for Chapter 3: Thrill Kill), and even at least one occurrence of a song's demo being used for this game (that being his song Walking On Shadows; this song also had lyrics from an older song of Kane's called One Step To Heaven, which did release on his Unsung Radio album in 2012.) This isn't an uncommon occurrence for Kane, as even Walking On Shadows has ties to a song on his 1991 Saints And Sinners album: Too Far Gone. And then there's the many versions of his song, Wrong. And that doesn't get into where Arthur may have gotten it. I personally don't know a whole lot about Arthur outside of his ties to Alice Cooper and Kane, though that is something I oughta learn and research, especially in regards to Tantrazz. The music for this game is fascinating, and I need to ask Kane about it because it's something I'd love to know more about. Most interviewers never even ask about Tantrazz... which wouldn't be as annoying if they didn't all ask the same questions half the time! >=P

I believe Mark couldn't play the same thing twice. His solos were literally mindless shredding. There is a video of him with white tiger here on KZbin. Hitting every note in the world without any care as to what order they should be in..
@glamrockbandit
@glamrockbandit 5 ай бұрын
I can't comment on "mindless shredding" as I feel that's more an opinion than anything (which I do respect; different strokes for different folks as they say lo; to add on I feel the video quality of that solo may impact this to a degree and it's also kind of an improvised solo if youre referring to the video I think you are referencing to?), but HARD disagree on the "Mark couldn't play the same thing twice" thing for two reasons 1. Kiss' 1984 Poughkeepsie Soundboard alone disproves this 2. He was a guitar teacher; you kinda NEED to be able to play the same thing twice if you want to take on that profession Why Paul made that claim is beyond me and the fact that people take that at face value (compared to other comments Paul has made over the years where people seem quick to argue on it) is so confusing to me lmao

Im into it. And also, when Paul traahes Matk for " not being the sharpest tool in the shed", i tend to disagree. I believe he was very smart and Paul may have been jealous. Mark was an Aquarius, so chances are he was smarter than Paul said. Also, if u look at all their interviews with Mark, they seemed to be hanging all over him...weird.
@glamrockbandit
@glamrockbandit 6 ай бұрын
Having listened to interviews with Mark post-Kiss, he certainly was very smart! Very analytical and well-versed in his craft! As for interviews with Kiss, odds were them hanging over Mark was a way to make sure he didn't overshadow them in terms of the spotlight after what they went through with Vinnie prior, if I had to guess. I think most of Paul's comments regarding Mark are a load of shit, like seriously, the fact that people will never believe anything Paul says about Ace but then will gleefully believe Paul on Mark (a guitar teacher) being unable to play the same thing twice? That is absolutely ridiculous to me and it annoys me to this day. Also ayyy zodiac stuff! Nice to see someone else understand that Paul is NOT an Aquarius (so many people try to say he is; he's a Capricorn due to the year he was born I believe since most years put January 20th as an Aquarius date) LOL. I'm a Virgo myself! =}

I really enjoy this soundboard. I can't get enough of this amazing piece of history! A soundboard with Mark St. John is very special. And props to KISS and whoever involved for releasing this show. A GREAT choice. I thought Mark did pretty damn good, especially considering all of the obstacles that he faced. I cannot imagine the amount of pressure Mark was under, knowing his gig was on the line. I will say, I thought he sounded better in Baltimore (his partial show) and Binghamton (his last show). Maybe in Poughkeepsie, Mark was just a bit nervous and possibly trying a bit too hard, since it was his first FULL show with the band (purely assumption though). Listening to this show, (as well as the other two shows he played) it's clear Mark was trying to be flashy and photos also prove how much of a monster he was onstage. People who were at Mark's shows also said he would run around the stage, jumped up and did splits, did guitar flips, played behind his head, played with his teeth (as you can hear during War Machine in Poughkeepsie). Gene and especially Paul HATED how flashy Mark was onstage. Mark was upstaging Paul (like how Vinnie upstaged Paul) That's a huge factor in why they decided to go with Bruce over Mark I think. Bruce just stood there in the shadows, while Mark went over the top onstage (sort of like Vinnie). At one point, during one of the shows, Mark stood right in front of Paul and went crazy during a guitar solo. And after the song, Gene pulled Mark aside, grabbed his hand hard and yelled at him, saying "Don't you ever do that again! You're upstaging Paul!." Talk about VERY different personalities between Mark and Bruce. God, ranting about all of this makes me want to see video of Mark live with KISS!!! Surely someone at these shows managed to sneak in a camcorder!! Anyways, great review!
@glamrockbandit
@glamrockbandit 9 ай бұрын
I heavily agree with this release being a great choice! Like I had said in my video: this was arguably the one I wanted the most! You have a great point on how this being Mark's first full show may have impacted his performance here, because I didn't think about that at all! And I think Bruce also said that Mark's flashiness is what ultimately was the last straw, so to speak, so you 100% hit the mark on that one if you ask me. Bruce and Mark's differing personalities, I feel, was also further clear in their differences from Gene and Paul: Mark was west coast, but Gene and Paul were east coast... and Bruce was also east coast, so naturally things gelled better personality-wise there as a result. Now, here's to video of Mark onstage with Kiss surfacing at some point! We have photos, we have high quality audio from this soundboard... we gotta have that holy trinity! LOL
@StJames33
@StJames33 9 ай бұрын
@@glamrockbandit You nailed it!! Californians and New Yorkers DON'T MIX!! As for video of Mark onstage with KISS, we know it exists. We'll just have to be patient, as it will leak (hopefully officially) out of surprise I hope!! It'd be also cool if Binghamton and Baltimore would get Off the Soundboard releases (something tells me that despite it being so unlikely, it just might happen!). I Dmd Gene on Instagram, mentioning some ideas of specific shows for future Off the Soundboards, and I included the other two Mark shows! He won't respond, but hopefully he'll maybe take it into consideration. I mean come on, Mark only played 3 times with KISS onstage (and only 2 times in full), so they might as well just have all of his KISS shows as Off the Soundboards.

Truth be told I have such a soft spot for this game, despite the bugs and all LOL. I think it's definitely a product of its time, that's for sure! Honestly , i was so excited when i bought the White Tiger album , when it was first released. To me , the singer was just way to whinny... Plus im sure its cool to say you loved the undersog guitarist that used to be in Kiss, Truth is Mark had many flaws.. I guess if youve never been in a band it wouldnt seem like a big deal.. But its a known thing that he couldnt play the same solo twice in a row.. He wouldnf remember what he just wrote (solos)Plus watch him in enterviews he wasnt out going enough . He could shredd though....

Everyone's got different tastes, I suppose! I personally do enjoy David Donato's singing, but I can totally understand why some people aren't a fan of his style! =} Though I will say, I HEAVILY disagree with the sentiment of "Mark couldn't play the same solo twice", given his history as a guitar teacher. That is, in my honest opinion, the dumbest thing Paul said about Mark in his book, and I hate that to this day, despite the amount of proof against that statement (White Tiger rehearsal footage, and the 1984 Poughkeepsie Soundboard release; plus the guitar teacher experience), people still believe and spread that misinformation. It's just a very inaccurate statement lol You're lucky to have seen their album release, though!! I didn't even exist at that time XD
