This the cool stuff that happens on You Tube. I was looking how to arpeggiate better, with fat fingers, and this guitarist was mentioned. I found this and it made my day. I've been playing for almost 60 years, and am always so happy to find more talent like this man. RIP Shawn Lane, Heaven is getting more and more talent, proves to me that there is a God, and he digs great music.

What he. Suffering from? This overveight most have come from some thing.?
@jeejee705 ай бұрын
from wikipedia: Lane had psoriasis throughout his life. After age twelve, he also suffered from psoriatic arthritis, which caused stiffness in his joints and after 2000 was affecting his ability to play guitar (Lane stated that with proper rest he could still play live gigs, etc.).[1] Lane had treated his psoriasis with hydrocortisone for many years, which caused his weight to increase, further loading his joints.

OSA or obtstuctive sleep apnea, happens when a person's tongue obstructs their airway druing sleep which happens to most of us to some degree. It ultimtely can lead to heart faiilure and death as it did to Shawn. Obesity, pickwickian syndrome, and sleeping on your back can increase chances for OSA.

I was in my late teens in the late 80s. I was an EVH junkie. My walls were covered in VH posters that I still have today. I also listened to Gambale, MacAlpine, Howe, Gilbert, Johnson, Malmsteen. I don’t know how I missed Shawn. He is in a category all his own. The world got a small glimpse of genius with him. The trio with Shawn, Jonas Hellborg, and Jeff Sipe is simply ferocious.

Man we listen to the same guitarists, i did discover lane in the 90s thou.... Gambale , malmsteen, eric johnson are my heroes, but i still listen to all the other guitarists you mentioned, and gary moore and roben ford!

For instance saw Gambale in the late 80's early 90's, Yngwie in 1985 to be specific at Fenders grand ballroom in long beach, totally insane. But didn't know about Shawn unitl around his death in 2005 unfortunately.

Is there a song here somewhere? No chord progression at all, just soloing mostly in the pentatonic. Is this a warm up, or an actual song of this group? No one knows.

The song is known as "Juvalamu" from the Album "Two Doors" or "Personae" from the album "Personae". Try em and find out.

@MeAndTheBoys_ Жыл бұрын
The reason is that once you hear him play once, you've heard everything he has to offer. Everyone waits for him to play fast, that's the trick. Shawn Lane made some forgettable music, and as a player, he had nothing to say. He was just really really fast.

@MeAndTheBoys_ stop waiting for him to play fast and start listening to everything else he played. His middle ground between southern rock and eastern influences makes for very interesting music. He's got the soul of the south with the excited celebration of Indian music. Shawn rocks my socks off

Shawn Lane is definitely demonstrating his technical ability but it's almost like he's just messing around. Personally I think his early stuff is more developed musically, this is a jam and he seems to be running through different ideas. It's cool but when he fully developed something it was more musical and just as technical and unique.

this song has been stuck in my head, i've been trying to find tablature to it but of course it's impossible. I wish I knew what scales he was transitioning from at least, that minor blues to that major majestic riff is so amazing I love it. RIP SHAWN
