Sir why we use only last four data pins for lcd display (data line D4-D7)

From microcontroller or Arduino Board, the data can be sent to the LCD in either the 4-bit mode or 8-bit mode. In this tutorial, the LCD is configured in 4-bit mode, that is why the pins D0 to D3 of LCD is connected to Ground. For example, to send ASCII value of '1' = 0x31 to LCD. Initially, D4 - D7 -> 0001 (1) will be sent followed by D4 - D7 -> 0011 (3). The data transfer rate will be on low side for 4-bit mode when compared with 8-bit mode but it is permissible, since we are not dealing with critical data.
