@@edgewoodchurchofchrist5064 Yes I do know it is essential to salvation I learned that in my baptism classes but for those who can't get baptized right away I would say it is not a sin or if they aren't sure in their faith yet. The only reason I had to wait a few years is because that's how long my family was looking for a church after ours closed. I appreciate you responding with a thought out response that means alot thank you.

For those coming to the comments. No you do not have to be baptized to be saved. I got saved about 2 years ago. I got baptized this year. Baptism is a promise a ceremony for confirming you want to follow God for the rest of your life. Unfortunetly many people get baptised and then leave the faith later on in their lives. I will say I do not know what doctrine this church is. I am personally a Bible Methodist but if they are say Baptist or Calvanist they would disagree with me on some things.

In Mark 16:16, Jesus said, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." Baptism is the moment when we come into contact with the blood of Christ, as described in Romans 6:3-4, where we are buried with Him in baptism and raised to walk in newness of life.

Religion, the bible itself says that religion is a prostitute, why is that? Does reading the bible makes a religious authority? A pastor/priest? ...maybe religion is good, most people are not. They may join a religion with ulterior motives, idk, but it always the case. 😑

The Bible also emphasizes that no one becomes a religious authority or leader simply by reading scripture. Leaders in the church, such as elders or evangelists, must meet specific biblical qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9) and serve with humility, always pointing others to Christ rather than themselves. You make a good point about motives-what truly matters is aligning our hearts and actions with God’s will, not just outward appearances (Matthew 7:21-23). Justification by Works is not the same justification as Justification by Faith. It doesn't say Abraham was justified by Faith plus Works ANYWHERE.

When discussing justification, it's important to harmonize all scripture, as God's Word does not contradict itself. The Bible teaches that faith and works are inseparably linked in a believer's life. While salvation is a gift of God, not earned by works (Ephesians 2:8-9), our works demonstrate the genuineness of our faith. James 2:21-24 explicitly states: "Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.' And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only." (NKJV) This passage does not contradict Romans 4:2-3, which says: "For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.'" (NKJV) Instead, these scriptures show different aspects of the same truth. Paul focuses on the foundation of justification-faith, apart from earning salvation through the law (Romans 3:28). James emphasizes that genuine faith results in obedient action. Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice Isaac (Genesis 22) demonstrated his trust in God and fulfilled the faith he professed. In the Church of Christ, we teach that faith is the beginning of obedience but not the end. Jesus Himself said: "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." (Matthew 7:21, NKJV) Thus, Abraham's faith and works complemented each other, illustrating that saving faith is active, not passive. The justification spoken of in James refers to the visible proof of faith, while Paul addresses the spiritual basis for righteousness-faith in God's promise. Jesus Himself treated Scripture as literal and authoritative. (NKJV) If the Bible were simply a "cosmic psychology science book," it would lack the transformative power to save souls and reconcile people to God. That being said, the Bible does contain profound insights into human nature and the workings of the mind, demonstrating the timeless relevance of its teachings. Justification by Faith alone results in the eternal salvation of a man's soul, but there is also a subsequent and non-salvific Justification by Works. The letter of James itself tells us what Justification by Works is. Turn over to James chapter 1, and let's take a look at verses 2-3 and they read: Count it all joy, my brethren, when you fall into various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith works patience. (James 1:2-3) So, we can see that Justification by Works is about withstanding tests and trials of one's faith, not salvation.

Great question. Paul answered this when he met men in Ephesus who had been baptized by Apollos' incorrect teaching. He said, "“John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” (Acts 19:4). Even before Jesus came out to John, they were being baptized with a focus on Him.

Remember: a text without a context is a pretext for a proof text. There are answers to this. Read your Bible, listen to the best explanations from each side, be led by the Holy Spirit. Spread our Savior's Gospel Love.

We clearly disagree on the doctrine of baptism, but I concur with your advice. All should read and come to an understanding, and I do not want anyone to make a spiritual decision based upon a KZbin short. In the sermon series there is a more complete explanation of baptism for the remission of sins.

As a former English major and literary lover in general, I acknowledge that there are different forms of communication in the Bible: some to be read literally and some figuratively. In more long form content, you will see such treatment. That said, Paul tells us that when we read it, we can know the mystery (Eph. 3:4).

Keep preaching this, brother. Ananias was sent to tell Paul "all things which are appointed for the to do". (Acts 22:10; also Acts 9:16). Ananias was sent to give the command to be washed from his sin in baptism.

the Catholic Bible includes the apocryphal books from the intertestamental period. Orthodox churches include some as well. Most bibles in the book store have 66 books in them. The course discusses why we appreciate some apocryphal books as historical but reject all of them as being inspired of God.
