This is my friend's jet, I don't fly jets, but I'm pretty sure he would recommend this setup. I think he told me that this is the setup that is recommended in the manual too. From watching him flying, I too, would recommend it :)

Any structural modifications were made to the airframe?
@oleander85 Жыл бұрын
Hi! The only mods is a small scoop that directs some extra air over the esc and som fiberglass reinforced tape over the hinge lines. I've had elevons rip off during a high speed pass. So, the tape helps

Jeg hører det er en svensk person som fly. Jeg har nettopp knust et fly fra 1998 så nå har jeg kjøpt Seagull 40 low wing sport som jeg skal ha en OS 56 firtakter ser frem til å få den i luften..

I am just about to push the button and order one of these. I am confidentflying my high wing trainer so going to make the jump. Is there much of a skill difference?
@oleander852 жыл бұрын
No I dont think theres much of a difference, these planes are really easy to fly. 😊

@@oleander85 That's good as I was a little worried. Lol.

Dont worry. You have to take the next step eventually. Crashes happen, it is part of the hobby. Crash it and you have the opportunity to practice repairing :D

Nice plane and very well flown by the pilot. Would a 52 fourstroke be enough power to fly this plane? Thank you.
@oleander853 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think a 52 fourstroke would work just fine! I dont know the difference in thrust between a 52 and a 62 though.

What size prop did you have on there and which esc?Do you kn ow the amp draw?
@oleander855 жыл бұрын
All the specs are shown right in the beginning of the video :) apc 6x5.5 prop and turnigy dlux 100a esc. I would say the amp draw is somewhere around 90-100a. My friend ran tvis setup bit with a plush 80 esc with no problems, but I think that was really pushing it with the esc

Do you think the thrust angle of motor was the issue?
@oleander856 жыл бұрын
No the thrust angle was fine, but the plane itself has been crashed and repaired so many times before being converted to edf, so thats the reason Im sure. If I hadnt done this edf-conversion I would have thrown the plane away since it was in such bad condition :)
@pitstopjohn6 жыл бұрын
Hey, great video, building the same spec at the moment. What motor mount are you using here? 19mm bolt spacing?
@oleander856 жыл бұрын
Hey! thanks man :) I loved that plane, and regret that I sold it... perfect balance between weight and speed, now I only have my (faster) sk3 6s funjet and my edf funjet.. I was using the secraft aluminum motor mount on that one, dont remember the bolt spacing sorry :)

All together how much did this build cost
@oleander856 жыл бұрын
Hey, frame cost $43, and the rest of the pieces were bought at banggood except for the batteries which were bought from hobbyking! I dont remember what all the parts cost, but you can look it up on their site.

Hey, Do you have any pictures of how you have mounted the Dr Mad Thrust? I have just got the 3000kv but can't find a good way to do it :) Thanks!
@oleander8510 жыл бұрын
Hey Matthew! I used the stock motor mount! BUT, the stock motor mount only accepts motors with a diameter of up to 28mm.. Since the dr mad thrust is 29mm in diameter, I used a metal file and filed the "stick" part of the mount until I could fit the 29mm diameter motor. Other than that, I also used epoxy glue on the top black plastic part of the mount. I hope this helps!
@MatthewEvansFPV10 жыл бұрын
Nice cheers, I've actually just done the same :) what prop size did you run? I've got a 100A esc to ensure I have enough :)
@oleander8510 жыл бұрын
Nice! Yeah I run this setup in a funjet now with a 100A esc. I crashed my skyfun after the battery came loose in flight :S The one in the video belongs to my friend and he still uses his 80a esc without any problems! We both use APC 6x5.5 which has been working great so far!
@MatthewEvansFPV10 жыл бұрын
oleander85 Nice, and finally I can see your ESC is inside the cockpit area - do you have any issues with cooling? Didn't realise I'd need such a big prop - was going to try 4.5x4.5, 4.7x4.7 and then 5.5x4.3 :)
@oleander8510 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the esc is inside the cockpit.. I have cut a hole in the canopy in the front, and another one in the rear for cooling. Imho the larger the prop the better.. as long as the amps stay reasonable :)
@pukkafpv10 жыл бұрын

yeah, I dont remember specifics since I did it a couple of months ago, but I'd say somewhere in the 140-150mph range!

Super cool! I'm going to try this setup also. Do you have the amp draw on this prop? I wonder if a 6x4 would be too much.
@oleander8510 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks :) I dont know, but as far as I can remember I use a 70amp speedcontroller which seems to hold up well. It is a pretty fast setup :)

@oleander8510 жыл бұрын
Not at all! works very well! The one in the video actually belongs to my friend.. The 80amp speed controller is on the small side.. I use the very same setup on a funjet but with a 100a speed controller.. Feels more safe that way :)

I use hobbyking's blue 8mm bungee cord folded in half. Im not sure how far I stretch it because I havent measured it before. But it pulls very strong when I press the pedal on the launcher. I Always make sure that the plane is released from the bungee cord before i run the motor.

you have certainly got the launch sorted how far do you stretch your bungee and do you have your motor running on launcher cheers

:) Had a lot of fun with this plane until the pins in both clevises decided to fail on me during a ~100mph speed run about 15ft of the ground. Went from screaming across the field to a pile of foamboard way beyond repair in what felt like 1/100th of a second :/

Thanks! Yeah when it comes to landing it is important to take it for a long glide to loose some speed. I've come in too hot a few of times which led me to order a new kit! Maidened the new one recently. On the second flight it started rolling mid flight. After a couple of rolls I regained controll and landed. Couldnt see anything wrong with it, so I flew it once more. When coming in to land it started rolling again, this time it was 2 metres off the ground. Minor damage, but confidence lost :(
@TheRattleSnake314511 жыл бұрын
Nice! just don't do what I did and get used to the speed. I was landing one time and misjudged the speed and landed way to fast broke a wing off but its all fixed now!
