It's crazy to me that they literally got so bored singing the same thing over and over that they found a loophole. They found a way to write new music and still sing what they felt required to at the same time. Genius. They just slowed it way down and left it in there. wow.

Mozart is by far, the best composer of all times, along with Bach and Haendel. The more you dig in his work, the more astonishing it is.

It's really impossible to get anything near what Mozart's Requiem sounds like with what seems to consist of a concert band with cellos. Why anyone would attempt to perform this great work with an ad hoc ensemble like this is beyond me. The sonority of his works were very particular with Mozart, particularly in the Requiem with the very specific use of the basset horns.

I have gained a new perspective on Mozart. Thank you Matthew McAllister for opening my horizons in music. I would love to see you do more explorations of Mozart's music, as well as, others like Bach, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, etc.
