Simone biles execution score seems kinda high… She practically fell on the landing even. 🤣 Omg. What’s with the enquiry they submitted? No way was that routine getting a medal. Were they questioning the E score also because was too high?

I always loved McKayla Maroney. Knowing everything she was going through during the 2012 Olympics makes me feel for her and makes her performance even more impressive. One little mistake during one of the most difficult times of her life doesn’t define her. She was the best vaulter in the world and not even Simone Biles could rival the power in her vaults. McKayla and Simone are two of my favorite gymnasts ever. I’m so proud of the girls of this era who helped take down the abusive practices in USAG. These girls are superheroes.

These girls proved it doesn’t matter who is stronger on paper (difficulty score wise), it matters who performs better when it really counts most.
@saragrant97494 ай бұрын
These girls came in as a team not favored to medal in the team- based on difficulty value overall. They won bronze simply because, when it mattered most they executed as beautifully as possible. Great on them!!

Victoria is such a beautiful gymnast. Best Sheep jump ever in the sport. When she did it, it was perfection. Her only flaw is she would let her nerves interfere with her confidence. She’s one of my most favorite gymnasts.

I always found her so incredibly elegant and yet entertaining as well. It’s a shame that small errors at In opportune times cost her potential gold medals… but she’s still a two time world champion and multiple Olympic medalist. That’s something special right there.

She is my favorite of all time. That is saying alot bc I have been watching the sport since the late 70's and even competed on the elite circuit myself, back in the 90's. I've seen alot of gymnastics in my time and hers is my favorite to watch. She is elegant even when she makes mistakes.

@saragrant97496 ай бұрын
@@ajimenez1719ify for one, Catalina Ponor. It’s widely known across the world that she was bullied by her and several of the coaches in Romania, most particularly Mariana Bittain. Those coaches in particular were always looked upon as being “saintly” just about when the actual reality was they were nothing but brutes and bullies who had no business even being coaches.
@ajimenez1719ify6 ай бұрын
@@saragrant9749 how did they bully her? Examples please.
@saragrant97496 ай бұрын
@@ajimenez1719ify according to what I heard, she was being told she wasn’t a good gymnast, that she wasn’t “worthy” of being a part of the Romanian Olympic team, that she wasn’t a hard enough worker, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised or shocked to know that these were actually told to her, as that kind of thing was a common occurrence with Octavian Belu. Catalina being reported as having said things like that wouldn’t surprise me either- considering how disrespectful she was in 2005 after losing the world title on beam. These reports came from Ana herself as well as several other gymnasts who had trained with her and others. This story came out quite a long time ago obviously, but the abuse that it showed being likely applied stuck. I have zero doubt she WAS treated churlishly as Catalina in particular had demonstrated that type of behavior with others- including Larissa Iordache in 2016. Octavian had a decades long history of being verbally abusive, so that adds cogency to the story as well. Just look at Alexandra Marinescu in 1996- who was pulled from her rightly earned AA spot in Atlanta because she supposedly “wasn’t a hard enough worker.” Only a bully does that.

@@saragrant9749 Yeah, I have always felt something was off with the whole romainian team situation. From the almost military style training rituals to the strange pulling of athletes for no good reason. I actually don't doubt any of those things either. Catalina always seemed cold to me. What was the deal with her in 2005? I just can't figure out why they fell off the podium after Belu left though. You figured it would've been the other way around. I did hear somewhere that they didn't have many girls wanting to do gymnastics there anymore. There is one gymnast from there right now that I honestly don't care for. (Sabrina Voinea, spelling?) Seems like a spoiled brat. She threw a mini fit at worlds when she didn't medal on floor. Her inflated ego got the air let out of it. My guess is her mother has alot to do with it but, who knows.

It's wild to hear Bart point out that in 2013, the US had won 8 of the last 10 individual AA golds on offer with eight different gymnasts. And now a decade on, the US has once again won 8 of the last 10 individual AA golds on offer, but 6 of those 8 were all won by Simone.

American commentators who are former gymnasts themselves saying about abuse in the Spanish gym squad. How terribly ironic that the US not long after had the biggest abuse scandal in gymnastics or sport of any kind the world has ever known. Also Carlotta Felito outing herself as clearly a jealous racist. Horrible. Saying that she and her team mate Ferrari should paint themselves brown and they would get better scores. And then saying that black athletes are built differently thus cementing her racist comment. And dragging Ferrari down with her. Who didn't actually say anything.
