Good plugged in tone! Would love to see a video on how to get a good sound using a di/preamp and how to eq out the harshness of the "pick" sound

Nice! I will title this song with "snow" something... Perfect for our season at the moment in Sweden.

@ Wonderful, I bet it’s beautiful his time of year. It’s snowing in Tennessee, today. We don’t get much snow and I love it!

this is a really cool tune, but isn't it also "etter" some older fiddler than Anon Egeland? Does anyone know?

Thank you! Bluegrass rythm lessons are pretty uncommon on KZbin. Funny, it takes a swede to learn proper bluegrass😅 switching between those two chords is hard! Greetings from Göteborg!

Do you have any good recommendations for Flippen alternatives. I want to play Flippen without playing Flippen, and becoming more of a Chris Thile copycat

The link that you posted takes me to tab for a different exercise, not this Jethro Burns one. I wish I had gotten the right download. Cool exercise from a great mandolinist, though.

I play the mandolin .but my hands are quite small . I only just reach the frets . So I am a bit concerned about trying something like the octave mandolin

I'm from Sacramento. I used to watch Tiny on TV every week. I didn't know he was a musician, though, because I knew him as Ranger Roy, the man who hosted a local kids show. Years later, when I was just about to turn 13, my mom took me to Tiny's music studio on El Camino Avenue to buy me an electric guitar for my birthday. Tiny had a few Guild hollow body electrics on the wall. I spied a sunburst single cut away that was the model Brian Jones played. I picked that one! After we got home my mom told me how she knew who Tiny was - she used to go dancing at Will's Point and knew him from there. She loved Western music; she was born and raised in San Antonio. What a talent and man, could he swing.

Lovely concerto. and well played. Avi Avital is brilliant and I love hearing him play the Vivaldi and the Budashkin mandolin concertos. For me though, Tamara Volskaya is the pinnacle of mandolin playing. She actually plays a domra, which is a Russian four string mandolin. Check her out if you have time.
