Cut the springs off the jack, it will go up twice as fast.

Great job! What are you using to activate the jack? And dose Harbor Freight have them?

I’ve had my lift for 15 years. Still works great. One thing you need is the side “wings” so you have a place to put your feet while moving up and down the ramp. One guy on here used harbor freight metal loading ramps. Look great. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4GwkneCdsiYm7Msi=5_AvRVeA1sdAEU7s

Nice simple build. I've watched many videos on this and they're always more complicated than they need to be

I just picked up a lift with a leaking pump. My plan is to modify mine the same as you did. I bought the 12 ton jack yesterday. When you have the lift all the way down is there any wiggle room from the base of the pump to end of the adjustable end of the pump. My pump looks like cast iron so I wouldn't want to weld to it. I was thinking maybe a 1/4" flat steel plate and weld a 3/4" black iron pipe to that. I'm not sure if I'd have enough room to add the plate. I haven't cut the mounting ears off yet. That's why I'm asking about the clearance.

Being that the base is cast iron how did you weld it to the metal pipe? I know cast iron can’t be welded with a normal MIG welder

I would have used the scissor jack to raise the front tire and remove the chock

I have the Central Pneumatics motorcycle lift table from Harbor Freight, (the predecessor to the Pittsburgh) that came with the air/ hydraulic jack. After about 12 years of frequent use, the pneumatic pump gave out and I manually pumped it up for about a year. I eventually converted it to a hydraulic cylinder powered by an electric pump. It was a good lift. Now it's a great lift. P.S. Do you have the original angular front wheel stop from the wheel clamp. I'm looking for one. Here's the link to the video on the mods I did. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imfIeZ2ej7Oejtk Here's the video on the conversion I did on my second lift. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3XJm6eQg5p0gNk

I've had the same lift for years and while everyone should use the wheel chock the most comfortable with I found it easiest to use the vice style wheel chock. There's no hump to roll over what it still holds from the sides and clamps down on the wheel.

I meant my buddies 2,800.00 lift doesnt do the wobble.....

I'm doing the same setup this sunday same lift and same air bottle jack just bought it today..I have a Harley Road glide though about same weight.. One thing I noticed is the wobble when you first start to lift, Mine does the same thing its kinda like maybe they didn't get everything lined up perfectly on the lift when they built it as these are welded by people or robots i dont know.. But it shouldn't do that. My friend owns a harley repair shop and his $2,800.00 lift does do that with my harley on it, but my harbor freight does.. I'm probably gonna do the same mods as you but i'm going to make the table itself more rigid stronger to see if that helps...Got welder will weld :) Just wondering your opinion on the wobble..

The air jack base is cast. The weld may fracture and fail due to vibration over time. Just a word of caution.

Do you feel is could pick up a side by side? About 1500 pounds? Thoughts on the strength of the table itself. Thank you and well done.

In your comment you mentioned that this, part 2 is the final painted video. Where is part 1? Does it have the measurements and show more details of what you did? I sure wish that you had talked about the measurements. Like how far away from the brace did you drill the holes for the pipe.

Great video. I've asked the Harbor Freight people at the store if I could use that very pump to modify thier table. Nobody had answers. I figured there was a way ,but I'm not an engineer. Thanks for the info.

What was the inside diameter of your 3/4 hollow rod? Was it a snug fit for the .5 steel rod? Nice video. Trying to mod my lift now after it got stuck in the up position with my bike on it!

I have the exact same lift. This is not the lift they sell today. I would like to do this modification to mine. I also want to comment about the difficulty in backing a bike of this size off the lift. The lift is narrow so it's difficult to get secure footing to lurch the bike backwards over the teter-toter, so you resorted to ratchet straps. That makes it a two person operation however. I use a wheel chock made by WheelDock which allows a perfectly flat approach into the chock. Then you step on a pedal and a hydraulic ram actuates the piece that pushes the wheel into the front of the chock. To reverse the process, the bike should still be strapped and then you retract the locking piece, get on the bike and then remove the straps. You can then back out the bile with no effort whatsoever. I've been using this for years and it's a one person operation.
