Beautiful photos and awesome study class. I’ve been in love with my 40mm F2 Zeiss Batis for several years now. I love the odd focal length of a 40mm. But when I dive down rabbit holes on old film cameras it turns out that 40mm was actually a common lens back in the days. Anyways thanks for creating these videos and sharing them with us. #ThatCreativeLife

Fun stuff! Yeah I've been seeing this focal length around a lot lately. It's been making me curious to explore it more. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank so much for the kind words! Happy shooting! :)
@Durka-Durka016 күн бұрын
The 40mm is better for street in my opinion.
@jamestheredd6 күн бұрын
Why is it better? I think it's a great choice if you want a slightly wider focal length, but it wouldn't depend on your goals right? :)
@Durka-Durka015 күн бұрын
@@jamestheredd you get the best of both worlds with the 40. It's nearer the 35 which is ideal for street, and is more than capable for portraits. 🙂

If no one films or photographs protests to put on tv or social media or internet news, then the protest never really happened or mattered. It’s the whole reason we have press and media and freedom of the press to document public events

I was 51. I stood fixated on my TV for easily 8 hours. The thing that haunted me most was a black woman with what I assume were a couple of coworkers crying out in tears, "Oh my god, they're jumping." It totally described to me the horror of what they were witnessing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm not sure either, but I'm guessing (and I may be way off) he might be using a 50mm focal length often. I also see him go tighter sometimes (85mm?). As for his camera, I have no idea. I would guess he's shooting digital, but his colors are so lovely, it could be film. Haha sorry I can't be more helpful! :)

Give it 60 or 70 years they won't even believe it happened. Just like your Holocaust and Moon landing deniers. I was watching Good Morning America waiting for my buddy to get ready for work. We were going to be late that day because of him. That's when they stopped and showed what happened to the first building. The first reports right off was a plane hit the building but they said small plane. I knew right off it wasn't. Besides that you could tell the first building hit was crooked in such a way that I said to myself that thing is coming down. As the time dragged on and another hit confirmed terrorist attack and just feeling more desperate for those people getting out. Such a sad sad memory to carry for all of us. God Bless the ones who lost and all those intimately affected. We can still hope for better as our leaders continue to lower the bar.

Check out the images of Ernst Haas. A master of shutter drag. This technique is hard to use to get acceptable images. I only get about 2-5% that are any good. I chimp frequently and constantly change my shutter speed. Using a ND filter during the day is a big help. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

To add onto the mutual interest point, use an unusual camera, it's a great conversation starter. A lot of people find the generic black DSLR/mirrorless camera intimidating. Everytime I go out with my Mamiya C33 I get stopped by curious strangers at least once. TLRs seem to be the best for this approach.

Feel ya bro, from a fellow professional filmmaking, photographer in SLC! Would love to do a photo street walk w/ you sometime.👍🏻 I aim for concert photography but not enough accessible concerts here to make it financially beneficial, so I have to do product, portrait and business work for the income. I tried to do like a doing stuff around SLC blog but was way too much work for the 3 views so after a couple years I erased all the blogs off my youtube making it just a receptacle of jobs I’ve done and had permission to post.

Here I used a Sony a7s III with a Sony 16-35mm ƒ/4. It was a great setup for the big city environment of Atlanta. I would definitely recommend that focal range if you want to capture a lot of environment. I think a 50mm would also work well if you want to push in a bit more. And I appreciate the invite to shoot together! Noted! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Be well! :)

Hi - any tips on where to shoot street photography in Liberia?
@jamestheredd7 ай бұрын
Well I've never been there so I will be of limited help. It looks like a very interesting place to take photos! I have no advice on specific locations, but I would apply the same philosophy as I would anywhere else: Look for visually interesting places that are busy with people. From what I've seen on the interwebs there seems to be outdoor various marketplaces with a ton of colorful umbrellas. That would be a great option I bet! If I would were you, I would look out for things that make Liberia special and try to tell those stories. I would also say that starting with a solid understanding of the culture and laws around photography would be helpful. That way you can avoid any potential drama. Hope that helps!

Thank you for sharing your views on Vision Pro. Am I correct by saying this is good news for photographers because we'll be able to share our images on a large "screen" or visual space rather than tiny phone screen?
@jamestheredd7 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely! This is a great point. I'd be curious to see how many people will buy into the current price point. But as it becomes more accessible, it can be an amazing way to experience photos. It could be similar to experiencing a large photo print up close. Platforms will also need to develop ways for viewers to experience the photos in an immersive way. There's a ton of potential here!
